๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™ Our final episode for the season has arrived!

Caroline Crofton knows that being an Education Advocate means being part tutor, part mentor, part listener, and knowing which role is needed in any given moment. She builds relationships with entire families, not just students, because she understands that cancer affects everyone.

Working alongside classroom teachers, she creates bridges between hospital experiences and homework assignments, between what was lost and what's still possible. Caroline shares her approach to rebuilding confidence in children who've been through unimaginable challenges, what she's learned from the families who've trusted her with their children, and why the most important work often happens in the quietest moments.

Coming Soon: Episode 7 - When Experience Meets Its Perfect Purpose.

Caroline knows that sometimes the most important thing she does all day has nothing to do with homework. As an Education Advocate, she's mastered the art of knowing when a child needs help with fractions, and when they just need someone to listen while they talk about absolutely anything else.

In this upcoming episode, Caroline reveals what happens in those quiet moments that change everything, why building trust with the whole family matters more than any lesson plan, and the surprising ways she adapts her approach for each unique child.

Sneak peek: "I'm part tutor, part mentor, part listener, and knowing which one to be, in any given moment is the real skill."

๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™ Episode 6 is out now! Why Listening Matters More Than Teaching with Janelle Eddy!

Janelle has spent over 30 years in classrooms, from her first teaching post in the UK, to remote mining towns in the Pilbara, and she's discovered something wonderful: the best learning happens when you follow where a child's curiosity leads.

She's seen countless education trends come and go, but one truth remains constant: when children feel genuinely seen and heard, when they're given space to explore and teach you what fascinates them, that's when the magic happens.

๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™Episode 5 is out now!

Marita Putland didn't become a teacher until she was 40 and she's learned that sometimes arriving late to your calling means you bring exactly what's needed. From primary schools to the justice system, she's taught in settings that shaped her understanding of what students truly need.

Now, she brings the wisdom of a mother, grandmother, and experienced educator to families navigating recovery. Marita shares why sometimes a student just needs someone to listen, how she creates space for both children and parents to feel heard, and why being custom-made for each family isn't just nice, it's essential.

Episode 5: Custom Made Education for Those Who Matter.

Marita got her teaching degree at 40, taught everyone from primary kids to adults in the justice system, and raised two children while becoming a grandmother twice. She'll tell you straight: arriving late to teaching meant she brought exactly what was needed. In this episode, discover why sometimes a student just needs someone to listen, how being a mum and grandmother shapes every session, and why 'one-size-fits-all' education fails the families who need support most.

Sneak peek: "One student told his parents he doesn't stress about school anymore since I started helping him. That's the whole point right there."

โžก๏ธ Tune in Wednesday for a real-world look at what happens when education is built around the people who matter most.

๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™Episode 4: Seventeen Years of Fighting for Normal.

Sherrie and Teneille McBain have been navigating the aftermath of a leukaemia diagnosis since Teneille was one year old. Now 17, their journey reveals truths most people never consider: treatment ends, but the educational impacts don't.

Getting diagnoses for "late effects" proved nearly impossible. Finding the right school environment took years. In this raw, honest conversation, mother and daughter share what they wish others understood about life after childhood cancer, the gaps in the system that still need filling, and why "normal" becomes the hardest thing to achieve.

Episode 4 - Seventeen Years of Fighting for Normal.

Teneille was diagnosed with leukaemia at just one year old. She's 17 now. Do the math, that's nearly two decades of navigating a system that thinks "treatment ended" means "all better now." This mother-daughter duo gets brutally honest about late effects nobody warns you about, schools that weren't equipped to help, and why finding "normal" became the hardest battle of all. Their story will change how you think about life after childhood cancer.

Sneak peek: "Treatment ended. Educational abandonment began. Nobody talks about that part."

๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™ Episode 3 has arrived! โ€œConnection before content every single timeโ€, are words Stuart Shields lives by. Stuart spent over 20 years in classrooms before burning out completely. The system that measured success through test scores felt increasingly at odds with what students actually needed.

Then came an unexpected invitation to work with kids affected by cancer, not as a tutor, but as something more. Stuart talks honestly about his journey from disillusionment to purpose, why he builds mock murder scenes to teach math, and what these incredible kids have taught him about what education should actually look like.

Meet Stuart Shields ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

After 20+ years in traditional classrooms, Stuart Shields knew there had to be a better way to teach. When he got the call to work with kids affected by cancer, he discovered what that better way looked like.

Now, he builds mock crime scenes to teach forensic math, loses at chess to 11-year-olds, and creates the kind of learning experiences that would make administrators nervous. This episode is for anyone who's ever wondered what education could look like if we actually put kids first.

Sneak peek: "I spent 5 hours creating a murder scene wrapped in carpet to teach volume. Worth every minute."

๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ™ Episode 2 : The Bridge Between Broken and Better with Brooke Phillips

Brooke Phillips thought she understood what children needed after cancer, until she watched future colleague and friend, Caroline, work in her classroom. What she witnessed changed everything.

As a teacher, she saw firsthand how a dedicated advocate transformed not just one student's academic performance, but his entire sense of self. Now working as an advocate herself, Brooke shares what it's like to stand on both sides of that relationship, the humbling lessons she's learned from the families she serves, and why the best support often looks nothing like what you'd expect. Enjoy episode 2!

Meet Brooke Phillips ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Brooke thought she understood what students needed after cancer. Then future colleague and friend, Caroline, walked into her classroom as a Back on Track Foundation advocate, and everything changed.

She watched one self-conscious boy transform over a year, heard him tell his parents he felt like "one of the smart kids," and realised she'd been witnessing something extraordinary. Today, Brooke is the advocate in someone else's classroom. This episode reveals what it's like to see this work from both sides and why it completely rewrites what you think education support should be.

Sneak peek: "It felt more like team teaching than tutoring, except we were building confidence, not just completing assignments."

Brookeโ€™s episode "The Bridge Between Broken and Better" drops on tomorrow!
