I don't do nighttime photography too often, but it's something I want to explore more and Sydney was the perfect place to try it! ✨🌃

Most of these were taken during Vivid, Sydney's annual light festival, which takes over the city during winter. If you're into photography, it's definitely worth planning a visit around! 📸

Some nighttime photography tips to know 👇

🌙 Use a tripod if you can — especially for longer exposures

📸 Keep your ISO as low as possible to reduce noise

⚡️ Try a slower shutter speed to capture more light and movement

🎯 Focus before it gets completely dark, then switch to manual focus so it doesn't keep hunting

✨ Look for reflections — puddles, water and glass can make nighttime shots so much more interesting

🤯definitely worth the flight for "weeds" 😏👇🏻

First, Send this to someone who needs this on their bucket list ⬇️

💜 Yes, those dreamy purple fields are real — and they're even better in person 💜

They are called “Lupins” and while they can be found in several countries, they are on another level in New Zealand 😍

And because they're not native to New Zealand, they are actually considered weeds over there!

Here’s everything you need to know about visiting NZ in lupin season:

📍 Where to see them

– Lake Tekapo & Lake Pukaki are the most iconic, but you can find them everywhere really

– Also spotted along roadsides or near rivers/lakes, you'll see them just driving around

- I even saw them in Fiordland National Park and Kingston near the lake (45min from Queenstown)

📅 Best time to go

– Late November to mid-December is peak bloom

– Weather can be unpredictable so plan a few buffer days

🕗 Best time of day

– Any time, though golden hour (sunrise/sunset) give them that magical glow

📸 Photography tips

– Bring a wide-angle lens to capture the scale

– Get low to the ground for dramatic flower foregrounds

⚠️ Important to know

– They’re not native, so it doesn’t matter if you trample on them!

– Russell lupins are actually *invasive*, so they do spray them to kill them! As a result they grow back in different areas each year!

I love traveling solo, but one of the biggest struggles is getting good photos of yourself that aren't selfies!! So I'm here to help.

The main camera I shoot with these days is a Fujifilm XT4. It’s smaller and lighter than other mirrorless cameras making is perfect for travel.

⛓ Links to my camera equipment can be found in my bio

Here's what I do:

1️⃣ Get a tripod

This could be anything from a proper tripod to a gorilla pod or even a ledge to balance your camera on! (use caution while doing something like this!)

2️⃣ Make sure your camera has an interval timer or self timer function

Most DSLR's and mirrorless cameras will have an interval timer built into it, even my old beginner DSLR from 2011 had it! so chances are yours will have one too.

3️⃣ Set your autofocus

This can differ between cameras, I find with my fujifilm the wide tracking or zone tracking autofocus works best…but it’s different for all cameras so try out different features for yours!

4️⃣ Navigate to the interval timer and select the frequency of how you want it to take photos.

I like to set it to take a photo every 2 seconds for 25 - 40 seconds. Sometimes I'll even set it to infinity if I have to walk further away from the camera!

5️⃣ Walk in front of the camera while it takes your photos! 📸

💃HOT TIP: don't just stand still and pose! Add movement to your photo: walk around, flick your hair back and forth laugh and have fun with it, you'll end up with a more natural and candid image.

Will you try this method?

We all make mistakes 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Nothing a trip to Washington can't fix, nature has its own way of healing😍

Send this to someone who can relate! 😂
