Today is World Food Day — a chance to celebrate food, culture, and sustainability with children in fun, meaningful ways. Here are some activity ideas for your service:

🍉 Tasting table: Invite children to try fruits and vegetables they may not usually eat. Link this to discussions about healthy choices and diversity.

👩‍🍳 Cooking experiences: Make simple recipes together — fruit salad, damper, or veggie wraps. Children learn maths, science, and teamwork while preparing food.

🌱 Garden to plate: Harvest herbs or vegetables from your service garden and prepare them in a shared meal. This connects children to sustainability and respect for natural cycles.

🖌️ Food art and storytelling: Use food shapes in art, or explore storybooks about growing and sharing food.

🌏 Cultural food celebration: Invite families to share recipes or stories from their culture. Children develop a sense of belonging and appreciation for diversity.
