Introducing Natalie - Played by Tahira Appadoo
Tahira is a Mauritian-Australian actress who grew up mostly on the small island of Mauritius. Landing lead roles in her primary school productions sparked the love for acting and inspired her to pursue a career as an actress. Growing up in Mauritius meant Tahira acquired the languages, French and Mauritian Creole, in addition to English.
With her mum being Australian, Tahira spent a couple of years on the Gold Coast as a child, and fell in love with the country. So, at the ripe old age of seven, as she and her family moved back to Mauritius, decided she would move back to Australia after completing her secondary studies, to fulfil her childhood dream.
Tahira attained an undergraduate degree in Psychology (Hons) at the University of Queensland, whilst minoring in Drama and Spanish. She graduated in 2019, having acted in the world premiere of Caryl Churchill’s play, Love and Information, and worked with Brisbane-based playwright-director, Daniel Evans, in the theatre production of Attempts on Her Life (by Martin Crimp).
Tahira then put all her focus on obtaining a broad education to better her acting. She has studied acting for the screen under Chris Sommers, Sean Lynch, Tom McSweeney, Phil Holder, and Tim Ross, the Meisner Technique under Scott Williams, accents under Talisa Pariss-Proby and Paige Walker, improvisation under Louise Brehmer, and has taken voice classes with Dianne Eden.
Tahira landed a role as a barista in Young Rock Season 2, and another as club security in the Australian feature film, Girls’ Night Out.
Tahira continues to strive for poignant performances, and hopes to provide a voice for those having difficulty finding theirs.
This is Tahira’s first supporting role in a feature film.
