Sole Mates / Pas De Deux

About the film…

Lucy Lovefoot loves feet — just not her own. So when she connects with the mysterious Sandal_Man on a dating app and he asks to exchange foot pics, Lucy spirals into a confidence crisis. In search of a foot fix, she visits podiatrist Dr. Silver, who solves her problems in more ways than one. What unfolds is an unexpected love triangle that knocks Lucy entirely off her feet.

SOLE MATES is a silent short film, shot from the knees down, where the feet do all the talking.

Bernie Krause is the musician and soundscape ecologist behind The Great Animal Orchestra, featuring a soundscape of 15,000 animal species recorded over the last 50 years.

Bernie Krause’s unparalleled research is a rare insight into the unseen world of animals. It reveals the beauty and the intricacy of animal vocalisations, which are now in danger of being silenced by human activity. Through his recording, Krause implores us to start listening before hush descends on the ‘great animal orchestra’.

The immersive soundscape comes to life with visualisations, created by London-based collective United Visual Artists, of each animal’s contributions to the ‘orchestra’ in vulnerable habitats in Africa, North America, the Pacific Ocean and the Amazonas (Amazon River).

The Great Animal Orchestra is presented at the Stargazer Lawn, Barangaroo as part of the 23rd Biennale of Sydney, rīvus, until 13 June 2022. Entry is free.
