With the heavy rainfall, please be mindful of wombats.

Rainwater will flood their burrows and therefore mothers with following joeys (some being very small) will be looking for dry and safe areas.

When driving during this heavy rain, please lower your speed and look out for wombats that may be darting across the road in an attempt to evade the deluge.

You may end up with a wombat visitor in dry areas around your property, so don't be alarmed. They will be seeking temporary cover. Once the rain subsides and their burrows dry out, they will depart.

This beautiful koala was hit by a car and left for dead we suspect some time in the early morning hours and only that a caring gentleman seen her sitting on the post and called Ricardo to attend with Renee from Sydney Wildlife (Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services) to rescue her.
After assessing her and seeing her ear tags we know it’s Blossom the Koala who was hit back in August last year on Peter Meadows Road and left for dead until Ricardo found her lying on the road.
She was rehabilitated and released back into the wild but now she’s been hit again.

Please pray for our beautiful Blossom and that she makes a speedy recovery.

How beautiful is this image? It was taken by my Aunty Glenda in Yamba after the bushfires. Ash had created this image of an Emu in the sand. Her photo was featured in the Australian over the weekend. Such a stunning and symbolic image Terry Robinson Glenda Robinson 💛

Such a lovely way to spend the morning The Boatshed At Woronora with Sutherland Shire Podcast Station.

Must admit I was very nervous but it was nice to be reminded of some of the things achieved in the short time since founding the Volunteer Hub.

It has now been released that 3 BILLION animals were lost during our catastrophic fire season. A loss so great means that we are at the point that every life counts. Next summer will be here before we know it and the Volunteer hub will continue to be a free platform for those needing help to support our wildlife and those that want to help but aren’t sure how. There are so many ways to help big and small. Everyone can be involved.

Great meeting sarah from SO SHIRE, Scott Deller and Mitch from the RFS. So many local people people achieving incredible things.

Make sure you check out their podcast for other great interviews.

Finishing off our easter bunnies and messages for those in nursing homes for The Daisie Chain initiative. Such a lovely idea sending a little love to elderly isolated for Easter due to current restrictions. We all loved this project - such a great idea.

Big thank you to Bob Reus & Co - The Advice Experts. A while ago, feels like a life time ago, Lisa reached out to me to ask what could Bob Reus and Co could do to do help. They had heard about the water stations event that I had run at 1st Grays Point Scout Group and wanted to see if they could use their team building day to contribute something to help our wildlife post bush fires.

Fast forward a few weeks - team building event on south coast was cancelled due to current restrictions - but they built them anyway. Gorgeous nest boxes that will be going to those involved with providing shelter to our surviving wildlife in bush fire regions.

Thanks so much for persevering. I was looking forward to meeting you all at your team building event but so grateful that you made them even though your event was cancelled. Really appreciated.

It’s hard to imagine that this was only 4 weeks ago Melina Janet Budden! Spending the day visiting groups in the southern highlands to see emergency feed stations. As much as the news no longer shows what was left in the wake of these fires, our wildlife and their habitat will forever need our help for recovery and preservation after this bush fire season.

Was great to run into John Creighton from Wombat Care Bundanoon and to meet so many lovely groups working towards helping our wildlife recover (I’ll write more about them separately)

To those that know me for my work with wildlife post bush fires... rather than the toilet paper girl 🙂- I was lucky enough to be invited by Natalie to be part of filming for the ABC News at her vineyard. I’ll write more about her generosity to wildlife carers separately. First time on tv ever so kids and I were excited.....not sure about my title but it was a great experience.

As much as the virus has taken over our news and changed our lives, unfortunately the devastation from our horror summer still remains for our wildlife, the carers, the communities and individuals impacted.

Help is still needed and will be for a very long time.

Story starts around 23mins 💛

I’m so sorry Greater Mogo Fire Recovery - you and the other fire zones haven’t been forgotten. Every day I think about how tough it must be for all of our fellow Australians that are not only facing this new crisis of COVID 19, but have lost everything during our horror summer. Many are still homeless. Puts things in perspective when the rest of us are lucky enough to be in isolation with a roof over our heads. 😢

For days now I’ve lost sleep thinking on ways to help our wild life. I’ve written to so many organisations offering to help. Understandably they are often to busy to respond or you need specific training which will take time and I plan to do when it becomes available.

I have time on my hands. I live in an amazing community, city, country that is filled with people that are desperately asking for ways they can help but are not knowing how.

I wanted to find something I could do straight away without training.

I wanted to do something big, something that could run on its own accord by individuals or groups.
