It is a timely reminder for when we forget the essentials while doing the daily grind 🚶‍♀️

This was a Michelin selcted restaurant we visited  in Ho Chi Min that serves contemporary Vietnamese food. The decor was amazing and the food was equally good. No wonder👇

📍Madame Lam

Let our love for  awesome food never die 😂

So we have taken a grown-up gap year.

There are many reasons for people to consider gap year..like

💬 relieve stress
💬 career break
💬 recover from burnout
💬 achieve long-term ambition
💬 life crisis
💬 explore different ways of living
💬 improve mental health
💬 escape reality
..and the list can go on. But our one is very simple

🔆 we were stuck in jobs that we didn't love
🔆 we always wanted to have a business of our own but couldn't prioritise time
🔆 juggling time between full-time job, family & side hustles was drawing the life out of us
🔆 Australian economy and cost of living make us feel poor despite 6 figure jobs
🔆 the thought of life passing by and suppressing your dreams due to societal expectation felt soul crushing

We came to the conclusion that 2 aspects were glaring right into our eyes that tipped us over.

1️⃣ time
2️⃣ personal freedom

And so once we decided in our mind, we gave ourselves 1 year to curate a family gap year for ourselves. And here we are 5 months in, and we are living one of our dreams of location independence 🌍

If you were to consider a grown-up gap year for yourself, what do you think might stop you from doing this? Let us know in the comments because i want to know if our fear is the same as yours.

We spent a lovely unforgettable day with these gentle giants 🐘  some things just fill your heart without trying, and spending 1 day with them was a bucket list tick🇹🇭

We searched for an ethical sanctuary..and mind you, there are a lot of them pretending to be ethical..so please do your research 🫶 truely those who teace the moat about humanity aren't always humans ❤️

📍 Happy Elephant Home

I have a question for you - is it good to address the elephant in the room, or is it better to shy away from it? Let me know in the comment.

Our Chiang Mai elephant sanctuary experience is now live in Youtube 📺 show us some love there 💕

Recently, we visited an artists village in Chiang Mai 🎨 It would have been a great loss had we missed it because we loved every minute of hours spent there.

📍Baan Kang Wat ....that's the location.

Here is our photo diary and tomorrow we are dropping the video diary in Youtube 📺 if you are up for it do check it out. And if you are a family visiting Chiang Mai don't not miss this spot ✈️

Our visit to IPOH was truly amazing. Something we will remember in years to come. This charming town in northwestern Malaysia🇲🇾 was a vibe.

We went there unknowingly, but later we found out that at the beginning of this year, Ipoh was rated by CNN as one of the most underrated places in Asia 🌏 and now we can see why.

This is a lesser known quaint town that is not infested by tourists, and we were greeted by locals in every spot we visited. And mind you, the locals were super friendly, genuinely helpful, and extremely kind. It's a gem 🙏

Now I can see why this is Malaysia very own little secret ❤️ Follow us .detour for more travel adventure as a family.

Our new video visiting Ipoh is up. Link in bio 📺
