In 1978, Paul escaped Vietnam in search of freedom. By 1979, he arrived in Australia with nothing but hope and built a future beyond imagination.

He became the first Vietnamese refugee in Australia to earn a Commerce–Accounting degree, went on to become a CPA, and has spent over 40 years helping families and businesses through his accounting firms in Cabramatta and Bankstown.

Paul also served as President of the Vietnamese Community in NSW (2017–2022) and continues to be a strong voice for refugees and multicultural unity.

Councillor Carol Israel has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor of Blacktown City Council. Cr Israel, a Woodcroft resident and Ward 3 representative, was first elected to Council in 2016. Council has thanked outgoing Deputy Mayor, Councillor Bob Fitzgerald, for his dedication and service over the past 12 months.

The Boholano And Friends Australia Incorporated - Sydney is bringing the multi-award winning film @songofthefireflies here in Australia on 22 November 2025, with two screenings - 3PM and 6PM at Blacktown Hoyts Cinema, NSW. Song of the Fireflies is a story depicting the famous Loboc Children's Choir.

Joining us tonight from 7PM- 8PM, 23 September 2025 with our special guestSheila Jala Lawrence, from Sydney, Australia.

Sheila grew up in the vibrant town of Loboc, Bohol, Philippines where she used to be a member of the world-renowned Loboc Children’s Choir. Those moments singing in her youth are brought to life in the inspiring film “Song of the Fireflies”, which captures the choir’s spirit of hope and unity.

Today, Sheila is a Stroke Clinical Nurse Consultant in Sydney, with 13 years of expertise, backed by a Master’s in Health Social Science and a Master in Clinical Nursing – Neuroscience. As she pursues her PhD in stroke care at the University of Technology Sydney, Sheila’s dedication to transforming lives mirrors the uplifting legacy of the choir.

She’s thrilled to share how the Loboc Children’s Choir, celebrated in Sing if the Fireflies, continues to fuel her passion for making a difference, blending her Bohol roots with her global impact.
