Pavitra Rishta actress Priya Marathe has reportedly died after a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 38. According to Maharashtra Times, she succumbed to the illness on Sunday morning (August 31). The report stated that she was said to be undergoing treatment for cancer, however despite that her condition continued to worsen and she could not recover from the illness. Priya breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai. Ever since the news broke, shocked fans have flooded social media with emotional messages and tributes. Priya is survived by her husband and Marathi actor named Shantanu Moghe.

Born on 23 April 1987 in Mumbai, Priya has been a popular face in the Marathi television and film industry. She rose to fame and became a household name for her lovable character in the hit TV soap opera Pavitra Rishta, where she played the role of Varsha. Her other notable roles were playing Vidya Bali in other hit show Kasamh Se and Jyoti Malhotra in the popular daily soap Bade Acche Lagte Hai, both under Balaji Telefilms' banner.
