Here they are👇

When you’re pregnant & your due date passes and your baby isn’t here yet, it can be a tricky, frustrating time.

Here are some things you might like to try for those final days of being pregnant:

1️⃣Reframe you thinking - remember your ‘due date’ is not a deadline, it’s a guess (see my other post all about due dates for more info)

2️⃣Turn your phone off - I found all the messages from well meaning friends and relatives checking to see if my baby was here yet super stressful in my final days of pregnancy so i turned my phone off (or you could give it to your partner to manage)

3️⃣Nesting - setting up your home for your new arrival, installing the carseat, washing baby’s clothes etc.

4️⃣Rest - have a daytime nana nap

5️⃣Treat yourself - get your nails done, see a movie, have lunch with girlfriends or something that might be trickier once baby arrives

6️⃣Work on your mindset & practice birth breathing each day - remind yourself things like “I am ready for my baby”

7️⃣Go on a date with your partner

8️⃣Relax - I loved getting pregnancy massages and going to my pregnancy yoga classes during this time

9️⃣Keep active - eg walking or swimming

1️⃣0️⃣Get ready for after birth - making meals that can be easily frozen and heated up for after birth or stocking up on snacks to eat while breastfeeding is a really useful way to fill your time.

& i’d love to know what week of pregnancy you’re in or if you’ve given birth, when did your baby arrive?
My girls arrived 40+4 weeks and 39 weeks.

Here they are…

It’s easy to freak out and rush straight to the hospital in early labour when contractions start…

🤰..But in early labour, it’s all about mentally and physically easing into and preparing for the rest of your birth.

So what can you do? (unless there are any issues)

Remember these 5 things:

▪️SLEEP: lie down and try and sleep as much as possible so you have energy for later on

▪️EAT: once active labour starts, you probably won’t want to eat.

▪️DRINK: keep hydrated. I really liked electrolyte filled drinks in my labours

▪️RELAX/ GET INTO THE RIGHT HEADSPACE: get your head into the right space for birth by relaxing and peptalking yourself.

▪️Stay home: don’t go to hospital too early (unless there are any issues or you’re worried about something). Most people find it easier to relax at home in early labour.

Just you wait... ‘til I throw your “just you waits” in the bin 😂

How about “just you wait” until you you get to see how amazing your body is during pregnancy when you’re baking a a tiny human, until you go to the edge of what you think is humanly possible during labour and birth and still do it, and you get to see a whole new, stronger version of you be born - a mum, until you’re sleep deprived with a newborn but still carry on somehow, feel like you’re going insane stopping a toddler from running onto the road for the umpteenth time in a day but you still manage to keep them safe somehow, and you get to be a small person’s everything and show them the world!

Pretty dang hard, yes, but pregnacy, birth and motherhood is pretty amazing at the same time.

Just you wait...
