These 4️⃣ things can really impact your birth ↓

3️⃣ things to STOP when you’re pregnant and preparing for a great birth – especially if you’re planning a more natural or unmedicated birth.

(And don’t forget to follow along for more birth secrets )

❌Telling people about your pregnancy 📆 due date –

Your baby’s due date is just a guess. Only about 4% of pregnant women actually give birth on their due date! Keep this private to avoid extra stress and pressure

Instead, you can try giving a due month or season (Eg “I’m expecting a summer baby’)

❌ Only listening to negative birth stories

If you’re wanting to have a positive or unmedicated birth, listening to or reading positive birth stories is such a great way to feel inspired about what’s possible in birth and learn some great tips – hint - i share a few positive birth stories from women around the world on this page and via my blog.

❌ Preparing for birth by buying lots of baby stuff

While buying baby stuff is super cute and you do need some baby things, it’s not the best way to prepare for a great birth. Instead, start preparing for birth by focusing on preparing your birth squad (a great birth care team aligned to the type of birth you want), choosing where you’re going to birth carefully, and preparing your mind and body - see more on this on my page

✅But.. here’s one really important thing to START:

🤰Listening to your body

When you’re pregnant, it’s so important to start to slow down your life and listen to your body and what it needs. This means saying no to too many events and setting guidelines for family and friends about the postpartum/ newborn stage to manage visitors and expectations. This also helps you practise being more in touch with what your body needs which helps during labour.

And one super thing important thing to start ....😉….

Here it is…

Often birth partners think their job is to tell you to “relax” or ‘breathe” during labour

But even though they’re trying to help, these can often make you want to throw something at them when you’re in the middle of contractions

Here’s what they can say instead (that’s actually helpful)

1. You’re doing an amazing job

2. I love you (if they’re your romantic partner)

3. I’m right here

4. You’re doing it

5. You’re safe

6. This is hard, but you’ve got this

7. You’re amazing

8. We’re going to meet our baby so soon

9. This contraction is almost over

10. Nothing (if you don’t want them to speak)

They’re about:
- Encouraging you.
- Reminding you they’re there (and present)
- Helping you see you’re already doing it.

Number 10 is because sometimes you might just want your birth partner to shut up and not say anything (and that’s okay too – just let them know).🤣
