What a team!

Part of our beautiful crew for "Before 8am". Cast & crew came from all around Sydney & crew members who flew in from Brisbane & Melbourne to support the Pasifika filmmaking movement 🙏🏽🥺

Pasifika crew came from Samoan, Tokelauan, Tongan, Papua New Guinean, Fijian, Cook Island, Niuean & Māori backgrounds. 🌊

And never forgetting our allies - non Pasifika crew who turn up for the work, to support our voices - this can't be done without you🙏🏽

And thats a wrap fam! 🎬

On Tuesday morning we wrapped "BEFORE 8AM" 🙏🏽 Thank-you to all our cast & crew, to the crew members who flew in interstate & the community who turned up to support the work & the company itself. 🥺 Faafetai tele lava.

This film is the company's 5th since we came into existence only 18 months ago. We came into existence to play our part in helping to serve the Pacific narrative in Australia. This cast & crew was 90% Pasifika-Australian & all heads of departments were all Pasifika. Capacity building.

It's more than filmmaking for us.
It's about building community.

"Before 8am" is a turning point for us. Pasifika-Australian stories & visibility will always be the reason.

So proud of our little Pasifika filmmaking fam in Sydney! 🥺🙏🏽 We're doing it.

2022 in the Pelesasa Pics world is about growth, strengthening our process & digging deeper with the stories we create from the Pasifika-Australian community.

And both "Te Molimau" & "Before 8am" casts have set the tone for 2022. And its only February!

Out of a nationwide pitch of hundreds of applications run by Q***r Screen - Mardi Gras Film Festival - our project "BEFORE 8AM" was selected for funding for 2022.

And after a summer of casting - we launch into rehearsal week this week for our first shoot of 2022 later this month.

"BEFORE 8AM" is a special project, with an amazing fresh Pasifika-Australian cast ( pictured: Keenan Walker, Izaia Mariner & Denis Troncoso ) & a signpost of our companies commitment to inclusiveness & elevating all voices of the Pasifika-Australian experience.

Thank-you to Q***r Screen Australia & Information and Cultural Exchange Parramatta for making this project possible.

URCHIN continues it's travels into 2022!

Screening in Tahiti, French Polynesia this weekend as part of FIFO Tahiti opening night! The Festival runs from February 5th - February 13th.

We are also nominated for best Oceanic Short Film 2022.

Proudly waving the flag for the Pasifika diaspora in Australia as the only Australian Pasifika work in the program this year.

Thank you to Mareva Leu & the team at FIFO for hearing our voice and inviting URCHIN to speak.

Thank you to two of the hardest working actors in the pelesasapics fam for your dedication this week in the "Te Molimau" development room. 🤝🏼

Development processes are intensive & require creatives/actors to bring everything they have into the space to help serve the story & elevate it into the next phase. Fakafetai Lahi Malia & Gerick for leaving it all on the floor.

"Te Molimau" is back stronger & even more poignant 2022. 🇹🇰
