French Evolution
AMEL Yachts is preparing to launch the new Amel 50.2 at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, marking the next evolution of its acclaimed 50-foot bluewater cruiser.

Following in the wake of the Amel 50, the new model preserves the fundamentals that define the French shipyard, safety, comfort, ease of handling and offshore confidence, while introducing softer exterior lines, a wider hull, a reverse bow and a more modern interior atmosphere.

Designed by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design, the Amel 50.2 has been created for owners who want to sail far, whether as a couple, with family or with friends, aboard a yacht that feels elegant, practical and reassuring at sea.
“Everything feels natural on this boat; it just falls into place,” said Olivier Racoupeau.

The new Amel 50.2 will make its world premiere at the from 8 to 13 September 2026.

Record-breaking solo sailor Lisa Blair has signed on to a $1.9 million research partnership and landmark initiative to develop next-generation hulls and revolutionise the maritime industry.

The team also includes Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC (ACM CRC), UNSW Sydney, and Steber International, and the project – Sustainable Composites for Next Gen Boat Hulls – is a two-year collaboration which will investigate the viability of basalt fibre (derived from volcanic rock) and current bio resins as a scalable solution to outperform fibreglass.

The 2026 Sail Port Stephens Commodore’s Cup has officially wrapped — declared the“best ever.”

A standout regatta delivered five days of racing, a record fleet and tight competition across every division in the stunning waters of Port Stephens – capped by a perfect 15-knot southerly finale.

Champions have now been crowned and a benchmark set for years to come.

The Brits ruled the waves on day two of Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix, as pulled out all the stops to defeat the (2nd) and (3rd) in a Fremantle day that left no margin for error.

Battling steep waves and 45 km/h gusts of wind, Emirates GBR executed perfectly through the start and held off the French crew as the Bonds Flying Roos were forced behind due to a pre-start boundary penalty.

After his 2025 Season Grand Final triumph just over one month ago, Fletcher said he was on “cloud nine” after claiming victory in the Perth opener.
