Based in Sydney, Australia, Vaaranam Children's Books focuses on producing high end Tamil books for little children, mainly between the ages 0 - 5 years. I absolutely loved this short film directed by .arunasalam about the Tamil community in Pendle Hill. It's a project commissioned by as part of the Tamil Heritage Week celebrations.

The art installation is displayed in the shopfront of .sarees ❤️ The kids and I really enjoyed watching this production which showcases the people who have built this community and play an important role in keeping our heritage and traditions alive.

Had such a lovely time this morning, during the book reading session at Wentworthville Library 💗

It was wonderful meeting all the parents, grandparents and the little ones. Thank you for making it to the session despite the horrendous weather.

And my children, Johann and Meera, thank you for all your help this morning ❣️🥹

There was a lovely family (3rd pic) that had bought their Paati Veedu book in Singapore while they were living there... and had brought their copy all the way to Sydney when they moved 🥰

It was also so nice to see the drawings the kids had done of their grandparents at the end (4th pic).

Paati Veedu is a book that is very close to my heart and it was really special to share it with the children and their parents today ❤️

As part of the Tamil Heritage Week celebrations organised by , I will be doing a bilingual book reading of Paati Veedu at Wentworthville Library (Banksia Room) this Thursday from 11am -12pm 💓

There will also be some creative activities and free play time with games from at the end of the session.

Hello to all new and existing followers! I am Vanitha, the person behind Vaaranam Children's Books. I am a mum of 2 and trying my best to pass on my mother tongue to my children.

I started this initiative 7 years ago when there was not a single Tamil board book, available anywhere, in any part of the world. I wanted to change that and make reading Tamil books interesting and exciting for kids and have published 9 books to date.

I have not been very active on social media (sorry to my existing followers) the past 2 years. Because I am simply tired of keeping up with the algorithm and posting for posting's sake. But Vaaranam is still very much alive and kicking - the books are still selling and do speak for themselves 💕

I have another love in my life apart from Books - Bharathanatyam. Which is why you may have seen multiple stories of dance on my account.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hello to everyone as we have had a number of new followers lately. Thank you for following us, I do appreciate it ❤️

All the books my son has read so far in the school holidays 😅 (i.e. in the last 12 days) and I am sure a couple more will be added to the list before the holidays end this week.

I did try and squeeze a Tamil book in there. His love for reading sadly does not extend to Tamil books (or German for that matter)... but I do try and 'encourage' him to read in Tamil as much as possible.

Nevertheless, as a self-proclaimed bookworm, I appreciate his love for books. Anyone else raising a bookworm? 😂📚
