She took ~13 hours to finish and is officially the most challenging artwork I’ve created so far, both technically and creatively!

I wanted her to feel ethereal and gothic, but using darker shades of purples and pinks (because is it even a true Moon Genie artwork without them? 👀).

Each month I like to challenge myself just that little bit further and can feel myself improving in creating original character and fantasy art 💖

This is my own little version of Spotify Wrapped, but for life as a neurospicy artist running Moon Genie Studio. 2025 was up and down with some loud wins, and some not-so-loud wins...but everything has taught me something valuable coming into 2026 🫶

To wrap up, this year looked like:
📦 tabling at more conventions
📮 more Etsy orders and eyes on my shop
💞 connecting with even more people on social media
🎨 creating more original character art

It's MEEEEEEEE~! 🎵🎁 Here's my 2025 post for the long-standing Art vs Artist tradition on IG 🎨

I love coming to this time of year and taking a moment to actively reflect on my creative practice and vibe for the year. Then comparing it to previous years to see how I've changed and grown🌷

2025 has been a big year of ups and downs, with huge life shifts for me and Moon Genie Studio. But I'm feeling more authentically ME than ever before...and more inspired to create ✨💖

Building from 2025, I feel 2026 will be my year for even more COLOUR, PLAY and MAGIC (soz Pantone colour of the year) 🌈💫

😴 Sleeping beauty: my cat continues dominates my camera roll every month
🌙 Con prep: new Sailor Moon gift bundles and watching One Piece for the first time while I con-crunched (the Nami backstory arc was like ❤️🗡️😭)
📸 SMASH! Chibi: selfies with friendos + trying to hunt down every Sailor Moon cosplayer I saw...gotta catch 'em all 🎶
🎪 My stall: tested a new table layout AND met the sweetest guy collecting a fav sticker from every artist booth for his sign board!
🏹 Life: archery practice, growing my very first strawberry (🍓!!), and a motorway rescue adventure (the incident response team is 🔥👌)
🎭 Theatre time: watched a local production of Hunchback of Notre Dame to support a friend… truly phenomenal performance!

Here’s my finished steampunk fairy illustration - the winning theme of last month’s Patreon poll 💚💗 This one mixes steampunk character design, anime-inspired art, and dragonfly fairy wings to create an “inventor fairy” vibe.

I spent a lot of time on the smaller details (especially the wings and the brocade pattern), but I’m really happy with how the textures and colours came together ✨

After 2 years as a WIP, Sailor Venus has finally joined the rest of my Chibi Inner Senshi ✨🧡 Swipe to see the whole gang 👉

A chat at SMASH! Chibi with the lovely + a very fated D20 roll (it landed on her number 👀💫) told me it was time to finish her… and I’m so glad I listened!

Her transformation swirl was the trickiest part. I ended up using rhythmic gymnastics ribbon references to capture the Venus Love-Me Chain energy, and it made everything click 🌙✨

Now that my Inner Senshi Chibi Series is complete… I think it’s time for the Outer Senshi gang next! 🪐 😉

Spent a freezing but magical weekend at Geek Markets Canberra! 🥶❄️🌙

We drove down Friday arvo, grabbed a delicious dinner at a Japanese fusion bar and restaurant, and were up bright and early Saturday to set up… right next to the open trader roller door 😅

It was literally below zero and I couldn’t feel my fingers for the couple of hours (RIP fine motor skills 😵‍💫) — but everyone's warm smiles and kind words totally made up for it 💖✨

Huge thank you to everyone who came by the Moon Genie Studio table!! Meeting you, chatting about Sailor Moon, anime + musicals, and seeing all your faces light up at my art made the early morning and long drive worth it 💫
