Hi Swimmers,

SAVE THE DATE - SUNDAY 1st FEBRUARY 2026

The 2026 Cronulla SLSC Shark Island Swim Website is now live and taking registrations for the 1km Pulse Property Cronulla Beach Fun Swim and 2.3km Cronulla Shark Island Swim Challenge.
Swim merchandise can be ordered as you move through the checkout area.
The swim will take place on Sunday the 1st February 2026, if the swim cannot be run on the 1st, it will be postponed to Sunday 22nd February 2026, 3 weeks later.
Once again this year we will have an 'ELITE' wave, please see website for details and time criteria. (You will be contacted prior to the race for proof of previous swims and times).
If you enter the 'ELITE' group you will not be eligible to win your age group as well.
Age categories for the Cronulla Shark Island Swim Challenge 2.3km Swim are: 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75 and over. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female in each category.
The PULSE Property 1km swim, prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female over the line.

There will be 'NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY'
Registrations will close off at 4pm Saturday 31st January 2026.

From Sutherland Shire Police Area Command

Como - Truck Tip-over - Some power outages

About 1.50pm today (03/10/2025) a truck was loading a full skip bin in Wigens Ave Como. During the procedure, the vehicle has rolled backwards and gone over an embankment, coming to rest in a vertical position.

Emergency Services attended, including Sutherland Shire Police, NSW Ambulance, and NSW Fire & Rescue who initially secured the truck to prevent damage to nearby houses. One person sustained a minor injury and did not require hospitalisation.

To assist in safely remove the truck, Ausgrid has disconnected power, which affects some houses in:
Wigens Ave,
Bonnet Ave,
Keele St, and
Woronora Cres.
Power is anticipated to be restored by 10pm.
