We did it! A huge thank you from the SWF Team, for the best fest yet! ✨

We filled Dendy Cinemas, Newtown with creators, storytellers, and audiences from across Australia and beyond - all gathered to champion bold, original voices in digital content.

A heartfelt thank you to every filmmaker, storyteller, and creative team, who shared their work with us this year. Your imagination, innovation, and passion continues to expand what’s possible in the online space.

A huge congratulations to all our award nominees and winners! It was such an honour to celebrate you all last night - whether you were in the cinema with us at .au, or cheering from afar.

Every project this year reminded us why we do what we do. The creativity, courage, and craft in this community continues to push the boundaries of digital storytelling - and the future is looking very bright.

That’s a wrap for Sydney Web Fest 2025! 💖

Hello! Courtney here - your very proud Festival Director.

Seven years ago, this festival was just a wild little dream in a Surry Hills hallway. Fast forward to 2025, and we’ve just wrapped an unforgettable event at .au, Newtown - packed with screenings, panels, awards, and of course, our signature pink carpet moments.

This year felt electric.

From the laughter in the cinema, to the powerful conversations in our panels, every moment reminded me why Sydney Web Fest exists - to celebrate creativity, connection, and courage in digital storytelling. The projects we screened this year pushed boundaries, challenged norms, and showed just how vibrant and vital this community truly is.

To every creator who shared their work, every guest who filled our cinema seats, and every volunteer and partner who made it all possible - thank you. You’re the reason this festival continues to grow, evolve, and inspire.

Seven years on, and we’re still just getting started.

The future of digital storytelling is bold, diverse, and beautifully unpredictable - and Sydney Web Fest will keep championing the voices shaping it.

Here’s to the stories we’ve told, the new friendships forged, and everything still to come.

At SWF, masks are more than okay - they’re part of how we look after each other. 💖 Spending a whole day together in a cinema is magic, but it also means doing what feels right for you.

Being inclusive means protecting everyone in our community: our creators, our families, our elderly, and those who’d really just be better off not getting sick.

If wearing a mask helps you feel safe and comfortable, we LOVE that, and we’ll always support it. Be loud and proud about your mask, if it makes you feel good. We’re with you!

Meet Your SWF 2025 Awards Gala Host - Will Winter

We’re thrilled to announce that Will Winter will be hosting the Sydney Web Fest Awards Gala this Saturday October 4th, at .au, Newtown.

About Will: Will Winter is a writer, editor, creative, talker, flagrant homosexual, and defender of the oxford comma working on Gadigal land. Will uses he/they pronouns, or any with love. He's currently on the editorial team of Honi Soit, the only weekly student newspaper in the country, and can be found most days avoiding his Honours Thesis. Will's writing predominantly involves live performance and art reviews, q***r culture analysis, and comedy. Some people think he's funny, but it's yet to be proven by science if this is definitively true. He also has nice hair.

Join us for the Pink Carpet from 4:30pm and the Awards Gala from 5pm, as Will takes the stage to celebrate the best of digital storytelling with all the wit, warmth, and irreverence we could hope for. Get your tickets via the link in our bio!
