Politics on the Beaches – Poor form to celebrate a milestone.
Today should have been a moment of celebration for our community. NSW Premier joined Pittwater MP and Wakehurst MP at the Brookvale Bus Depot to announce the electrification of part of our local bus fleet, operated by Keolis Downer.
On the surface, this is fantastic news. A step towards a smarter, cleaner future for the Beaches. But instead of being a straightforward win for the community, the announcement came with a dose of political point-scoring.
Notably absent was the Member for Manly, , in his own electorate. To add to the irony, it was actually Griffin, as the former Minister for Transport, who secured the original funding for the project under the previous government.
Credit where it’s due: thank you, James, for helping deliver this important upgrade for the Beaches. Hopefully next time, the politics can be set aside so all our local representatives, regardless of party colours, can stand together when celebrating achievements that benefit the whole community.

🌱✨ Big news from the Beaches! John Colet School has taken out top honours at the National Kitchen Garden Awards, winning the ‘Down to Earth’ category.

From the magic of worms to the benefits of organic nutrients, their entry wowed judges Alice Zaslavsky, Stephanie Alexander, Thanh Truong, and Clarence Slockee. Just over two years ago, teacher Laurie Green had the vision to transform an overlooked corner of the school into a thriving teaching garden. Today it supplies fresh produce to the school’s vegetarian kitchen, feeding more than 300 students and staff daily.

This award celebrates not only the garden but also the hands-on learning, sustainability, and community support behind it. 🌿

Congratulations to John Colet School, showing the nation how powerful growing, sharing, and learning in the garden can be.
