Sue Rosen Executive Coaching

Sue Rosen Executive Coaching Sue Rosen Executive Coaching specialises in helping you unleash the power of your potential!

I am passionate about supporting people to create freedom and fulfilment in their lives. I work with leaders and aspiring leaders, empowering them to build their whole-hearted leadership capacity, through the recognition of their strengths and development of their emotional intelligence. I use mindulness and compassion whilst also challenging my clients to step outside their comfort zone. Coaching

is partnering with people in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential. It is about unlocking the potential within the person to tap into their own skills and knowledge to progress through the issues they face. As they work through their challenges an executive can transform their learning into results for the organisation or an individual can find the strength to change the course of their life. I offer programs both to individuals, who are facing big decisions in their life, particularly in relation to their career or business, and to corporates who are seeking to support their executives in increasing their effectiveness.

Connection was at the heart of the World Finance Forum and the energy in the room demonstrated how much we all need this.

Brene Brown defines connection as
"I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued: when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship."

If you are a female finance leader who was in the room and is eager to bring more connection into your professional world then it is time to connect with the CFO Women's Circle or the Emerging Finance Leaders' Circle.

The Circle is about Coaching, Connection and Community, and I would love to talk with you about which group is right for you. You can set up a call here: https://calendly.com/sue-rosen/30min

"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit" E.E Cummings

Are you ready to risk the experiences that reveal the human spirit?

Other people see the person in the CFO chair as an accomplished individual, however in my experience that is not always how the CFO sees themself! Are you a CFO, who knows in your gut you can offer more but who is struggling to step up and shine brighter?

What if you could start believing in yourself? What possibilities would that open up for you?

Where could you take your career next if you were not afraid to ask for what you want or to take the risk of stepping out of your comfort zone?

What are you going to do this year which makes you uncomfortable?

Where have you been holding yourself back?

What you do as CFO matters to an organisation so make sure you are giving it your best (and that does NOT mean working longer hours!)

You don't have to be an extrovert to have an executive presence!

So many CFOs say to me that they find it hard to build their influence because they are introverted.

Well I am here to tell you that is just an excuse!

You don't have to be the loudest voice in the room or have the biggest network to have executive presence.

What you do need is:

Confidence: in the value that you bring to the table
Humility: the ability to simultaneously appreciate the value that others bring
Connection: the desire and willingness to build meaningful relationships

If you have always been task focused in your work it can take a significant shift to focus on relationships and it may take you outside of your comfort zone but you already know that outside of the comfort zone is where your growth happens!

If you work on these three areas you will improve your executive presence and increase the impact you have as a leader.

Your growth as a leader does not lie in squeezing yourself into the leadership box you imagined when you started your career.

It lies in understanding who you are and who you want to be. It lies in expressing your identity, owning your strengths, being honest about your weaknesses, connecting with your purpose, continually challenging yourself to learn.

To do that takes courage and compassion (for yourself as well as for others).

Is 2024 the year that you do the work?

Do you shy away from getting out there and connecting with other finance leaders?

On a recent podcast I heard someone describe the "awkward start-up cost" of making new connections and it resonated with me as a fantastic way for CFOs to frame their initial reluctance to get away from their desks and build relationships.

Because we know that, just like any project, if we don't embrace the start-up cost we will never make progress!

One thing that can make that start-up cost a little easier to bear is to connect over a shared purpose so I invite you to join me at the World Finance Forum on 15 February, where you will have an opportunity to learn from the excellent panelists and connect with your peers.

I will be moderating an afternoon panel on Cultivating Emotional Intelligence and Authentic Leadership, with the fabulous Josie Pane, Francine Hackett and Geoffrey Buchanan.

If you see me there please come and say hi!

As the kids go back to school here in Australia it is time to shift your attention to your own learning in 2024!

What will you do for your own professional development?

As you progress in your career, relationships become "the point". At senior levels very little is achieved sitting in front of your computer, you need to be making connections, having meaningful conversations and building relationships.

This is a critical element of cultivating your executive presence, and it is your executive presence which is going to accelerate your ability to influence and make a greater contribution.

Where are you now in your development as a leader?

And where would you like to be?

This gap is an area rich with development opportunities.

In my posts I usually focus on building your self-awareness as a leader through reflections on your values, your strengths and the stories you tell yourself. That is a wonderful starting place as self-mastery is at the heart of great leadership.

However there is another dimension you need to explore if you are committed to growth as a leader.

Alongside your own reflection on where you are now, it is enormously valuable to understand how others see you as a leader.

To help clients do this I use The Leadership Circle Profile™. It is a comprehensive 360 degree assessment, from which you receive the feedback of your bossess, peers and direct reports.

The Leadership Circle® explores your creative leadership competencies, which lead to high fulfilment and high effectiveness, and also your reactive leadership tendencies, which reflect your inner beliefs that limit effectiveness, authenticity and empowerment.

This provides you with the opportunity to see the gap between how you see yourself and others see you, which can be confronting AND it can open a doorway to much greater growth.

Are you ready to open that door? Are you ready to explore that gap?

Message me if you'd like to know more.

Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

This is the theme of International Women's Day 2024.

As finance professionals, I know you appreciate the importance of investment to create change, and the need for measurement and reporting to ensure that progress is made.

Knowing that, how are you going to Count Her In?

To be a leader who is a change agent and who can operate in complexity you need to be a leader with Executive Presence, because executive presence relies not only on your ability to speak up with confidence but also to be fully present, listen with humility and connect at a heart to heart level.

I would love to support your IWD event this year by exploring how Executive Presence can help your team to make changes and increase the gender equity in your organisation.

To talk to me about how we can do that please message me for details.

What you do as CFO matters. It matters a lot.

Organisations need strong CFOs who are capable of confidently articulating their position on an issue, even when that means challenging the CEO. This takes courage.

They also need a CFO who is able to engage with all areas of the business. A CFO who brings their curiosity, asks questions to learn from others and is willing to take new perspectives.

The CFO is a key change agent driving transformation within an organisation and technology or systems change is all about people so the CFO needs to demonstrate compassion for people's fears around change.

For truly great partnership between CEO and CFO and the Board, the CFO must be aligned with the purpose of the organisation and be driven by the contribution they want to make.

Are you bringing courage, curiosity, compassion and contribution to your role as CFO?

Without them you will not be having the impact you would like to have.

Are you a leader who values gender equity? If so, what will you and your organisation be doing for International Women's Day? Some performative cupcakes or something which can actually make a difference to the women in your organisation?

What are you planning for your professional development in 2024?

As you return to work following the holidays, this is a great time to build into your schedule the time and space you need to keep evolving as a leader.

Otherwise, we all know what happens: three months into the year, you have a million tasks on your plate, you can't find the time to focus on development, and nothing has changed in moving towards the goals you said were important!

Executive coaching is not about giving you all the answers; it is about supporting you to unlock the answers inside you and, together in partnership, co-creating ideas and new pathways forward for you.

Are you ready to challenge your own beliefs and assumptions and unlock previously untapped sources of courage, curiosity and compassion so that you transform your leadership? So that you improve your executive presence and increase your leadership impact?

Are you ready to invest in yourself this year?

CFOs I know are always assessing the ROI on new projects for their organisation but often overlook the costs of not investing in themselves.

Are you ready to make 2024 the year you change that?

There are a number of ways we could work together in 2024:

- individual executive coaching
- small group coaching in CFO Women's Circles
- keynote delivery on leadership at your next conference
- tailored workshops for you and your team, increasing your ability to work collaboratively

If you'd like to know more, please message me and we can chat.

All of the talk about New Year's resolutions and questions about what you will do differently in 2024 can make us feel like we are not enough as we are.

STOP right there.

You are enough. Right now. Exactly as you are.

Only when we love and accept ourselves right can we take meaningful steps towards growth and becoming the very best version of ourselves.

I love this quote from E.E. Cummings:

"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit"

Are you ready to risk the experiences that reveal the human spirit?

Who is in your corner?

Who challenges you to rethink your assumptions?

Who is your sounding board for new ideas?

All too often, CFOs find themselves trying to do everything alone. They are the self-designated "putter out of fires" across many areas of the organisation because they have always been problem solvers.

BUT trying to do it all may be what is holding you back from achieving your full potential because putting out fires takes up a lot of energy! AND you don't have to do it all alone.

If you are a CFO who wants to do things differently in 2024, then please get in touch and have a chat with me about how executive coaching (either individually or in my small groups) can support you.

"We cannot change anything unless we accept it", said Carl Jung.

This is the starting point for any change we want to make in ourselves because until we acknowledge our current reality we cannot plan our pathway forward.

We find ourselves trapped in habitual patterns of behaviour and assumptions until we bring those into our conscious awareness and explore whether they are still serving us or whether it is time to try something new.

I have a client who has been driving himself into the ground with a constant striving for perfection and achievement, with never a moment to reflect on all that he has achieved or what that approach has cost him.

Taking time to do the uncomfortable work of exploring this pattern in his history and the stories he tells himself about his family's expectations enables him to consider new possibilities for how to live his life.

Seeing these possibilities, he can let go of the fear that "if I don't drive myself this hard, I will be a disappointment". He can more confidently articulate the value he already brings to his role and start to define success on his own terms.

Accepting that we are all human and no one is perfect AND that we can still make changes to be happier and more fulfilled in our careers is the work to be done by all leaders.

How are you exploring your own imperfections and learning to accept them?

As we enter 2024, how are you feeling about your year ahead?

Are you still nursing a hangover and misgivings about meaningless New Year's resolutions?

How will you set yourself up for success in 2024 so that you make the progress you would love to see this year?
