Basting my “Mary Rawlinson 1873” quilt ready for hand quilting. I’ve backed this quilt with a white damask fabric and no batting. I think the damask is thick enough that it doesn’t need batting. Quilting will be done in red Sajou cocoons thread which will stand out on the white background. This has been a rather long EPP project and I could have made it a lot faster by hand or machine piecing, but I wanted to stay true to the original quilt owned by
This is a smaller version of the original.
Now that I have a photo of the completed quilt, the pattern with choice of 3 methods will be uploaded later in the week. There will be papers/templates available for all methods as well.

Two beautiful “Bloemfontein” quilts in the making last week. One is Wilma’s who has finished her centre and is sewing the rounds of hexagon flowers; the second by Janet who started with the hexagons and is now working on the centre, just to be different!!🤣🤣

Just one of the lovely starts workshop this week! It set everyone off wanting to make a Dutch Mariner’s Compass block! I’m up to number 5 with no sign of stopping!! Original antique quilt in the collection of .prins

Progress on my Mariner’s Compass blocks - a great distraction when I should be working on 3 other quilts! Usually, I start a quilt and finish the top before getting distracted by another project, but I’ve somehow fallen into the trap!….and then there’s that knitting I started!! 🤣🤣
