A few projects on the go between garlic harvest and saving a few white cherries from the birds! Torn between projects: centre of a little “Provence” cot quilt started for grandson Quinn; a need to get on with my Dutch Mariners Compass blocks and a secret appliqué project I also can’t put down!!

New block started for the “Dutch Mariners Compass” quilt and I am loving the lovely fabrics chosen by and Lety for their blocks and clever use of the striped background fabric. The jury is still out on my background choice! 🤔

Decision still not final with the choice of background stripe for these ‘Dutch Mariners Compass’ blocks. I like several of the options and will continue to contemplate my choices 🤣🤪🤔, however in the meantime I’ve decided to release the pattern and templates so that you too can experience some dithering on background choices! I am just having fun with the options!
Inspired by a beautiful antique quilt in the private collection of Petra
Pattern and grooved templates are now on my website. Hand pieced traditional methods - make 4, 9, 16 or 20 blocks - the choice is yours!

Some wonderful show and tell in Monday’s class with this beautiful centre for the Avignon quilt by Trish G.! Check out the back too, which is as neat as the front with beautiful basting in place. Papers will be taken out without removing the basting and the back will remain lovely and flat with no bunching of seams. It’s a win-win!
Last photo is Miss Blenkinsop - enlarged pieces to make a bigger quilt - so gorgeous to see all the effort that goes into making these beautiful quilts!!
Both quilt patterns are included in: “The Charm of Quilts” Book 4, available on my website

I’m still trying to make a decision on the background stripe to use for my Dutch Compass blocks. When you’ve seen the lovely blue stripe the original maker of this quilt used sometime in the late 1800s, it seems nothing else will do!
It’s holding up the pattern release so a decision will be made soon … there’s a lovely on its way to me which could be just right!

Pattern and templates now uploaded to my website for this hand pieced quilt made from large hexagons and diamond shapes. “Saint-Rémy” is an easy scrappy quilt to make using all your favourite fabrics arranged in colour rows. Grooved or slotted templates also available making it easy to mark sewing and cutting lines at the same time.
I hope you enjoy making this new pattern using stash fabrics!
