“Sixteen was an important age for me, a shy girl - I had just worked up the courage to finally start Drama classes and I had also begun to write my first screenplays. But stepping into the industry as a young Actress, I discovered it was ‘common knowledge’ that a Woman’s Acting Career was ‘over by Thirty’. That was the industry’s ‘expiration date’ for us, even though Men Actors had opportunities lasting for years. The older I got, the more I panicked that my ‘expiration date’ would come before I had reached my full potential. But as a writer, and watching the Industry change over the years, I’m grateful to see this stereotype slowly being shattered. Twenty-Six is a voice for Women and Women Actors everywhere. I hope it can inspire them to take hold of their own stories and show the world that we are powerful and our stories get richer the older we become.
