β4 JULYβ
Today would have been a BIG milestone birthday for my dad.
As he would prefer, I'm keeping the number quiet. A Peter Pan kind of principle. "Don't focus on age, it keeps you young".
For those who knew my dad Keith, it would be agreed that he was immaculate about keeping his health at top level and consciencious about what he put into his body. "Brain power" (his words) was important.
My dad was well ahead of his time before the internet was even a thing. Consistent.
My dad was THE GREATEST man I've ever known, and whilst so sweet and affectionate to me, he was also STOIC.
He didnt bow or sway to opinions or pressure from others in any which way. He wasn't fooled by headlines, fixtures, propoganda, etc.
Perhaps the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
He remained true to himself always and left the most brilliant legacy for many who knew him to follow.
On the other hand, my dad was also a prankster and full of jokes. We laughed so much π€£
On this day (4 July, x years ago), Keith was born.
Born in Barbados, my dad's trade as as an autoelectrician and merchant navy electrical technician saw him move to call Australia home from 1971. Circa The white Australia policy.
He was only the 3rd Caribbean man from that part of the world living in Sydney.
He loved Indigenous peoples of this land and often delved into discussing politics of all sorts over the phone with friends at 5 or 6am in the morning.
My dad was a fatherly figure in the life of those he bonded with. Offering substantial advice that was completely outside of the box was his way.
"Keep The Faith"- His way of saying goodbye to you, contained a gift.. And he meant it.Β
Superficiality and physical vanity was something that my dad distanced himself from as years passed by, so this photo is something that I've personally found difficult in deciding to post.
However it is symbolic. It is him.
Something that I now feel the timing is right to post. It is a representation of stength and fullness in recognition and with the deepest love on his BIRTHDAY.
This is for my dad Keith.
Until we meet again, this life will be remembered fondly.. Always. Happy Birthday Dad β€οΈ
