This low pressure system, west of Tasmania, is bringing some wintry-feeling weather across south-east Australia today.

Temperatures are way below average for Victoria, Tasmania and southern South Australia, with maximum temperatures in the mid-teens for many locations. It's also quite windy with passing showers and gloomy skies, adding to the wintry feel.

Showers will clear for a while across Melbourne today, but are forecast to return this afternoon. Showers are possible around 3pm for the running of the Melbourne Cup, and even if it's dry, it will be cool and breezy at Flemington.
