Spotted a couple of these BYD Sealion 7s around Sydney now, as the company prepares to launch the vehicle in the coming months. It's a good looking car, and priced right should become a solid seller for BYD. While we don't know which variants will be available yet, searching the registration database for sequential plate numbers shows 3 vehicles with 3 different weights currently registered in NSW. Expect a 72kWh single-motor base model, and 81kWh mid-range spec and an 81kWh dual-motor performance variant with 390kW. Should get little Jimmy to soccer practice reasonably fast.

BMW announces a refreshed iX SUV lineup, with minor visual tweaks to freshen the styling:
🔹iX M70 xDrive - 485kW, 600km range, 109kWh battery, max charging at 195kW
🔹iX xDrive60 - 400kW, 701km range, 109kWh battery, max charging at 195kW
🔹iX xDrive45 - 300kW, 602 range, 94.8kWh battery, max charging at 175kW

BMW claims an increase in efficiency or around 8%, and a raft of other changes including improved battery preconditioning and steering/suspension changes.

BMW should certainly be commended on their EV strategy, targeting existing-customers' tastes rather than going left field, but the disappointing max charge rate and lack of 800V architecture compared to competitors stands out in 2025.
Details of Australian market specifics expected in Q2.
