I found myself cringing recently when someone so kindly pointed out how many days it is until Christmas. (It's now 91...)

Nothing against Christmas, of course!

But it means we're just about in Q4 and THAT means we can lapse into the 'shoulda/coulda' mode, and get all judgy about what we've actually managed to achieve so far in 2025.

When your logo says “law firm” but your captions say “hot girl summer,” that's a tone dissonance.

People don’t just “see your logo” and suddenly get who you are or how you can help them. What they DO notice - often more than you realise - is all the moving parts of your brand working together.

When there’s dissonance between them - fonts, tone, colours, brand voice, even your offers - it can feel jarring.

This often happens naturally as your brand evolves. It wasn’t built in a day, and the elements you started with (like your logo) might not match where you’ve grown to now.

Before you spiral: no, you don’t need a perfect logo. That’s a favourite procrastination detour for many businesses. Just do a sense check. If it really bugs you, try a simple wordmark (basically your business name in text).

***Just make sure the licensing for that font is suitable for commercial use… darn, and here I was trying to simplify things for you.

Getting your ducks in a row online is always going to feel more like herding cats. 🦆🐈

Start with one thing. Get a quick win. Or at least open the question for yourself, just don’t let it stress you out.

We use AI to save time. Sometimes it doesn't.

I dictated a long, clear, insightful prompt into ChatGPT today — the kind that only really flows when you're speaking, not typing. Then I turned off the mic… and it disappeared.

If people can’t read the first line in 1 second, they won’t bother with the rest. This is not a team-building puzzle.

Yes, it's a cool font! Shame no one can read it.

Do a legibility check, and if it's unreadable, it’s un-postable.

Happy World Art Day to us, the kids, the chaotic Canva folders, and everyone out here trying to make something ✨aesthetic✨ while also finding where the “ungroup” button went. 💻🎨👩‍🎨

To celebrate, I whipped up this post using one of Canva’s templates. Just gave it a little tweak here and there to make it a bit different.

Friendly reminder: you don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time you post. You don’t have to be a professional designer. You don’t have to stare at a blank screen for 3 hours waiting for “the muse.”
