A message to all our valued customers: We are still open for business!

Our first priority at Graham Rubber is the safety & wellbeing of our staff & customers and we continue to comply with all Covid-Safe policies. We have a QR Code check in at our factory for all pickups & deliveries and enhanced cleaning & social distancing protocols have been implemented.

Brad, Dave, Jeff & Nick are working hard to fulfil all existing and incoming orders – we’ll do our best to help customers any way we can. If you have any queries feel free to call or email - we're here to help!

Daylight savings has now started in Australia... so all of a sudden our time zones look a little different! However we can always be reached via email if you miss us in the office. :)

It always takes a heavy fall of rain to remind us about all those leaks we meant to repair during the big dry!

Just a reminder that we stock a large range of pinchweld, sealing tapes, rubber mouldings and many other rubber products to seal those gaps and keep water out!

Last few days before the Christmas break, Sydney temps of 45 degrees and our boys are literally sweating in the warehouse organising equipment to go! This order of plutone hose featuring spiral steel reinforcement is bound for use in a client's decontamination station.

Random Rubber Fact #13:

Did you know that the raw material of natural rubber is actually white? Natural rubber comes from a South American tree 'Hevea Brasiliensis' which can grow up to 30 metres high and a metre wide.

The rubber is tapped by removing slivers of bark to create a 'wound' which allows the sap to flow and be collected in a container below. This amazing plant is the only one which produces more rubbery latex each time it is cut, with a productive life of almost 35 years!

Random Rubber Fact #12:

No natural rubber = no newspapers. Imagine! Nothing to line the bird cage or wrap your fish & chips in... :D

Printing nowadays involves large, complex printing machines. Rubber coated rollers are intrinsic in the process of printing our daily paper, rolling over inked plates to pick up the image and then transferring it to the newsprint. The use of roller image transfer is gentler on the paper and ensures a high quality result, not to mention a much larger capacity output, upwards of 70,000 copies an hour.

Handy little plant, isn't it?

Random Rubber Fact #11:

The properties of rubber literally saves lives every day.

For people working in the medical field, rubber is an important part of their job. Beside things like gloves and bandages, it can also be used in medical equipment and devices - think o-rings for dialysers, tubing and componentry in IV's, implant materials or seals in medical pumps. In some of these cases, the performance of the rubber can literally be the difference between life and death! Talk about a super hero plant...!

Tomorrow will be a tough day for many in the state - please make sure you follow advice from NSW Rural Fire Service, have a plan for what to do in an emergency and stay safe.

Random Rubber Fact #10:

The elastic properties of rubber & Mick Jagger were the inspiration for Paul McCartney when he was trying to decide on a title for The Beatles latest album in 1965.

Paul had recalled reading about an American bluesman describing Mick Jagger's music with the Rolling Stones as 'plastic soul'... Paul decided to make their concept a little more flexible and so the album 'Rubber Soul' was born.

The meaning of the word 'rubber' had a very colourful existence long before it was attached to the elastic association we think of today.

A "rubber" could be a hard brush (1664), a rough towel to stimulate the skin (1577), a horse towel (1598), a whetstone (1553), tooth powder (1558), a polished brick (1744), a person who takes brass rubbings (1840) and a masseur at a Turkish bath!

If you have a MAMIL in your life (Middle Aged Man In Lycra) they owe their very existence and grateful thanks to the stretchy properties of rubber! In it's fibrous form, natural rubber forms elastic which is used to produce all types of tight fitting and expandable clothing revered by cyclists, gym junkies and active people the world over. Can you imagine how different activewear would look without it?
