Steve Byfield has been an outstanding supporter of the CMAA for many, many years. While his role leading Diggers The Entrance has been significant, it represents only part of his remarkable contribution. Steve has represented the CMAA and the broader clubs industry at many levels, always with integrity, generosity, and a genuine commitment to community.

Across more than four decades in the industry, including two decades of leadership, Steve has demonstrated what true stewardship looks like—guiding organisations through growth and transformation while never losing sight of the principle of “made by the community, for the community”

His legacy is one of service, passion, and an unwavering belief in the role clubs play in supporting their members and local communities

On behalf of the CMAA, thank you Steve for your extraordinary support, service, and passion for our Association and the industry as a whole. We wish you a truly well-earned and fulfilling retirement. Please know that you are always welcome at any CMAA event—we would love to keep in touch and continue the connection you’ve built over so many years.

and congrats to Michael... a CMAA member also.
Chairperson Mrs Gayle Gribble, “We are thrilled to announce Michael Kowaliw as the new
Diggers The Entrance, CEO”.

A fantastic and successful day was enjoyed at yesterday’s CMAA Sponsors Appreciation Luncheon and Bursary Awards Presentation, hosted at Ingleburn Bowls Club.

This year we delivered a fresh twist on the event — following the formalities, guests were treated to a relaxed “walk-and-fork” experience, complete with gourmet food trucks serving an array of delicious savoury and sweet dishes. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the day provided a wonderful opportunity to both thank and recognise our valued sponsors, and to acknowledge and congratulate our 2026 Bursary Award winners.

Adding to the fun was our AI photo booth and old-school caricature drawings by Australia’s number-one artist in the field, Steve Panozzo, giving everyone something to smile about and take home.

A special thank you to Mitch, Caitlin, and the entire Ingleburn Bowls Club team for going the extra mile — everything was absolutely spot on.

The inaugural CMAA Victorian Gaming Management Summit at the Mulgrave Country Club was a huge success. The collaboration between CMAA and CCV saw members from both associations come together to hear from an impressive selection of speakers including Enver Erdogan MP - Minister for Gaming, Casino & Liquor Regulation, Jason Cremona - Director of Regulatory Services VGCCC and Brad Brown - National Manager of Regulatory Operations AUSTRAC. Well done to Scott Phillips (Club Yarraville) and Michael Phillips (Port Arlington Golf Club) for their assistance and support of the summit.

Nelson Bay Bowls and Rec Club is the destination for today’s Hunter Zone meeting and luncheon… and yes, more blue skies to contend with. Tough gig, I know! 😜

The club wrapped up most of its renovations about two years ago, including the gaming room extension, new carpets, big-screen additions and an overall fresh, vibrant feel throughout the venue.

So what’s next? CEO Richard Garvin is buzzing about the plans for Green 4. While still in the approval stage, the vision is set to transform the club with a major new living-experiences precinct for the community. If all goes to plan, we’re looking at around a two-year journey to completion.

Sounds like we should lock in a date for 2028 already!

Port Macquarie Bowls Club turned on the sunshine and delivered outstanding service for the Great Lakes zone meeting and dinner. With nearly 100 guests in attendance, the day was a huge success.

The club is looking fantastic — fresh, vibrant, and fully revitalised after completing its renovations around 12 months ago. It’s clear they’re ready and eager to keep serving their wonderfully supportive community.

A big congratulations to the Great Lakes Zone Committee and the club team for putting on a sensational event. And a special shout-out to Operations Manager Adam Barrett, who seemed to be everywhere at once!

What an absolutely beautiful destination.

A fabulous Sydney Metro Zone meeting yesterday, made even better by the sunshine and a spectacular waterfront setting. A huge thank-you to Drummoyne Sailing Club for not only hosting us, but somehow arranging perfect weather as well!

Our members and trade partners enjoyed a productive session, an engaging and insightful presentation from CUB on current beverage trends, and plenty of networking against one of the best backdrops in the world. A great day all round.
