April was an incredibly special month - I’ve never baked so many Easter breads in my life! I hope all my supporters enjoyed eating P***a as much as I enjoyed baking it. As my sister said when I arrived in Kyiv and baked my final, very special batch using fresh farm eggs and very special Ukrainian flour: “You’re in turbo baking mode, and no one can stop you!”
In total, I baked and you purchased: 88 Easter breads (Pasha) - that’s 40 kg of dough!; 4 honey cakes; 2 Napoleons; 2 Lviv Syrnyks; Dovbush cake; Strawberry sponge cake and some Marshmallows!
All of this was baked for Ukraine in April!
Thanks to your generosity, we raised a total of $3,365 this month. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who supported my little fundraising initiative.
A very special thank you goes to my anonymous supporter, who does not wish to be named, for their incredibly generous donation - your kindness made a huge difference.
The majority of the funds were sent to Alena Vasylieva, who is fundraising for a car for her husband’s battalion. She is now very close to reaching her goal!
Thank you all for placing your orders and supporting my little fundraising initiative. I'm especially grateful to those who surprised friends in Sydney with Ukrainian cakes, shared love from Tasmania, treated colleagues, and talked about Ukraine in their workplaces. It’s a beautiful way to bring Ukrainian stories into Australian spaces- especially when the news media often stays silent.
