It’s our founder, Hans Pomeranz's, heart birthday today.

Hans had a heart transplant 33 years ago which allowed him to run Spectrum for many years following. Although he’s no longer with us, his presence and love of films lives on at Spectrum Films.

Pressure is coming to the Sydney Film Festival 🎬🌧️👏

Directed by Anthony Maras, and starring Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser, this powerful true story follows the meteorologist whose forecast played a crucial role in D-Day.

We loved being part of the post production team on this one and are thrilled to see it featured in this year’s program.

A huge congratulations to Peter Weir on receiving the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from AFTRS. A well-deserved recognition of an extraordinary career that has shaped Australian and international cinema. 🎬👏

We’ve been incredibly lucky to work alongside him over the years, with many of his projects coming through Spectrum Films for post-production. From Dead Poets Society to The Truman Show, and countless other landmark works, Peter’s films have left a lasting mark on generations of filmmakers and audiences alike.

And if that wasn’t enough, Peter will also be taking part in a special Ian McPherson Lecture at the Sydney Film Festival, in conversation with Rob Carlton.

We’re incredibly proud to see Sentient continuing to make waves, with its UK Premiere at Sheffield DocFest on June 10, followed by a Q&A with director Tony Jones.

The film has been selected for the festival’s Debates strand, which highlights works that invite audiences into important and timely conversations. Sentient offers rare access inside one of the largest animal labs in the USA, with researchers speaking openly about the ‘care-kill complex’ and the ethical tensions surrounding animal testing.

A second screening will be held on June 13 as part of the wider festival program.
