Blunt Presents

Blunt Presents The origins of BLUNT go back to the fanzine world of the mid 80s in Sydney, Australia. the muse is still there ..

We now operate fully online, still for fun, writing, reviewing, and sometimes promoting via live shows. decided on a spontaneous whim to start this page up - always good to write stuff and even after nearly half a century I find myself at times with ideas that need to be vented, written down, shouted out- bands to be shared, told about, reviewed, things that catch your eye be it here or at home..

also feel free to share stuff - always keen for that - after all it's about the community.. and by the way this is not affiliated in any way with Blunt Magazine which surfaced around the time the Blunt book came out - just so there is no market confusion etc not that I can see it happening - rock on and enjoy- big thanks to Scott Wajon and Michael Orehek for page graphics btw which come from the book which I have been told is sold out

Beautiful words.

Rest in peace dear Ben.

You were there with us from the very beginning. Popping in daily, drinking a large cappuccino, sometimes accompanied by a plate of dips or a bagel and scribbling for hours in the corner or on the couch in one of your many notebooks. We’d often wonder what you’d be writing, and over time as we got to know you between the daily hellos and your funny banter or observational quips we got some glimpse into what was going on inside.

As we evolved and that little hole in the wall cafe turned into a late night venue with music you were there. Just as you were there when there were art shows or poetry nights or whatever…. You were there as it turned into RAD bar and you were consistently around for all the other shows that took place in Gong too. You came to every festival, interviewed what felt like every local band and person involved in Wollongong music over a very long time and it was an honor having you as part of our local scene.

We’re not sure what it means now that you are gone… But it feels significant. It feels like something is missing, something special we will never get back and it’s clear that we lost a real one. A gentle soul with such pure interest in what was going on and a strange or unique ability to mimic it back and document it, even if just by being there.

Maybe this is the end of an era. It definitely is. Or the beginning of a new one. Whatever the case may be though, we will miss you Ben. You meant a lot to us and it’s going to suck not having those interactions with you anymore.

Rest in peace. You meant a lot to a lot of people and you will be dearly missed.
