Our built environment is an integral part of our social, artistic and cultural fabric, as is its history. So it’s always a joy to see wonderful architecture, uniquely personal work, innovation and boldness through some of our best architects. Normally a session led by .bob — this time the spotlight was on them. What a treat, many many incredible achievements and beautiful projects about which they are both far too modest. Congrats, great evening!

✨ LIMITED EDITION: While we've been gazing at the Aurora Australis dance lately, it's a reminder of the infinite mystery and beauty of our universe. It's a sentiment Greg Weight has captured many times during his career - whether in the outback or in an artist's studio. "Faraway Places" is a Limited Edition Art Print released specially for the launch of "Exposure A photographic memoir."

In Exposure (chapter) 19, Greg explains how he found himself in Alice Springs in 1994, and was asked to photograph a large number of Emily Kame Kngwarreye's paintings - all of which had never been seen by the general public. In the process, he developed a great passion for travelling to Central Australia, photographing artists such as Emily, their landscape and finally, the stars (Exposure 36). In this work from 2009, each star seems to twinkle brightly, no matter how small.

Faraway Places 2009 is issued in an edition of just 25, and produced on A2 archival paper, signed and numbered with signed book. Limited Editions ship from December 6th.

LIMITED EDITION 🖼 In 1975, Greg Weight's artistic career was taking off. He had spent time working as Martin Sharp's studio assistant in the 1960s, before Martin headed off to London. After Greg spent two years as the photographer's assistant to the mysterious, flamboyant fashion photographer Alan Nye - a man with a dark secret - Greg took his experience and well-honed skills to start his own photographic studio shooting commercial, fashion and interiors. But what he really wanted to keep doing was fine art photography.

When Martin returned from London, he told Greg about his plans for The Yellow House. Greg became a founding member and it was an actual yellow house in Potts Point - the site of a new artistic collective formed after Van Gogh's same dream. In 1971, Greg and Martin exhibited for the first time alongside other artists like Brett Whiteley, George Gittoes, Bruce Goold, Peter Kingston, Albie Thoms. Many people drifted in and out of the collective in its brief existence and Sydney's bohemian art scene had taken off.

In 1975, Greg had his second exhibition 'Time & Space' at the Australian Centre for Photography. 'Cup and saucer' is a limited edition print of one of the key works. Perfectly lit, it captures a moment of atmospheric domestic beauty, stillness, and modernity.

This is a beautiful, timeless work. Issued in an edition of just 25, and produced on A2 archival paper, signed and numbered with signed book.

Don’t wait! Limited Editions ship by December 6th.

Happy Monday! We were delighted to hear on the radio last week someone from Gleebooks praising Bronwyn Oliver’s monograph as one of the best books written this century. Non fiction rarely gets the attention it deserves (!), so this was nice to hear. And of course, we agree. Originally published by Piper Press in 2017, “ Bronwyn Oliver Strange Things” is beautifully written by Hannah Fink. She brings us close to Bronwyn’s work, practice and life.

Bronwyn Oliver was one of Australia’s most important sculptors, her work is in many notable collections and is enjoyed by thousands in public art settings too. This book is also the only monograph on Bronwyn Oliver, supported by her estate and the authoritative account on which many essays, articles, documentaries and TV programs have been based since. While the pandemic squashed the chance to reprint more books, we’re rebuilding to address some of our recent out of print titles.

A new edition will be published and a possible new format. New readers and new generations are ready to discover or rediscover her talent, unique eye for sculpture and use of materials. We’ll be working on this and several other reprint and new titles during 2026. Stay tuned ✨

☀️LIMITED EDITION: Sunbaker Max, 2001 by Greg Weight. This is one of Greg’s most iconic, fun works of the 2000s. Long before the Barbie craze rebirthed thanks to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Greg Weight captured a series of images titled Boogie Nights. In “Exposure A photographic memoir”, he details how and why he photographed the iconic doll, in often surprising, surreal settings and poses.

As if by fate, the muscular Ken-doll called Max turned up. Greg noticed, remarkably, that Barbie-Max has the same body lines reminiscent of Max Dupain’s most famous image, Sunbaker (1937) depicting his good friend Harold Salvage lying on Culburra Beach. Greg’s image communicates a crisp, saturated homage to another great photographer —Dupain, an enduring symbol of Australian life captured on Bondi Beach, and a twist on 20th /21st century pop culture.

This is a beautiful, timeless work for any Australian, beach lover, art lover (or Barbie fan) or all those things combined. Issued in an edition of just 25, and produced on A2 archival paper, signed and numbered with signed book.

Brett Whiteley had a special affinity with the Chinese robe he sometimes wore, as told to Greg Weight. Greg’s work and friendship with Brett is detailed in his new book “Exposure A photographic memoir”. This image has a hypnotic quality, as we are drawn into Brett’s world hoping to understand what he’s thinking about.
