Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a fierce warning to Russia following a massive wave of overnight drone strikes on Moscow, declaring boldly, "If Ukraine burns, your Moscow will burn too."
Addressing the severe escalation, Zelensky confirmed that the sweeping drone attacks which heavily struck the Russian capital's major oil refinery for the second time in a week were a direct retaliation against ongoing Russian aggression, specifically citing recent strikes that tragically damaged the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery. "If Putin does not want to end this war and wants to continue it, we will not sit quietly. We will respond," the Ukrainian leader stated in a resolute voice message sent to reporters.
Despite the intense military retaliation, Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv's ultimate goal remains peace. "We do not want this war and never did," he added, urging Western allies to radically increase economic and military pressure on Vladimir Putin.
The explosive remarks highlight a major shift in the conflict's dynamics, signaling that Ukraine is increasingly capable of, and completely willing to, bring the devastating reality of the war directly to the Russian population.
