It's 12 years since she won Toyota Star Maker, following two previous attempts.
Not one to give up, Kaylee Bell continues the music hustle and today has delivered her new album Cowboy Up. It's an 8-track body of work showcasing her resilience, identity and musical exploration as an artist and recently, a mum; capturing the spirit of Kaylee’s small-town roots and big-dreams, bundled up into what is her most personal and dynamic music to date.
Produced by longtime collaborator and Nashville based Tom Jordan, Kaylee brought Jordan out to New Zealand to work on the record. “Working so closely with Tom on this record was the most creatively involved I’ve ever been in the recording process, and I absolutely loved it. I’ve been a fan of his band Seaforth for years, so getting to collaborate with him was really special. He brings such a unique stylistic flair and a wealth of experience, especially when it comes to what connects in a live show.”
The beautiful moments of the album continue with the new single Song For Shania - a shoutout to one of Kaylee's greatest musical influences, Shania Twain.
The opening lyrics “I was in the backseat 6 years old ‘Still the One’ playing on the radio, just a little girl but it changed my world” set the tone for the song, a hat tip to an artist whose music has shaped and influenced Kaylee’s career.
Congratulations Kaylee on your continued success.
