Here at Rescued, we're taking a little mid-season "paws" (geddit?) while we deal with the pointy end of some of our other projects.

The best part about this? It means we can tack a few more extra episodes onto the end of Season Three!! We're super-excited about the bonus interviews we have booked, and we promise it will be worth the wait.

Long story short, now's a good time to catch up on any episodes you've missed. We've had a cracking time of it all so far, and it's been really such a privilege to have so many incredible artists join us to share their stories.

We'll be back in 3 or 4 weeks. In the meantime, watch out for Roz Pappalardo in more madcap theatre adventures with One Hour Wedding, and also performing with Lontano - both as part of Cairns Festival in early September.

Hey did you catch the latest Rescued? The chat we had with multi-talented Townsville arts legend Madonna Davies is chock-full of insights - and we're beginning to think that it's no coincidence that so many creative, nurturing souls are rescue dog mamas as well.

In s3e7, we hear about how Madonna connected with a traumatized bull mastiff called Ruby, offering her health care and a safe, caring home. And in return, Ruby - with her generous, goofy, boundless love - has brought the family closer together.

If you have some headspace over the weekend, it would be worth your while having a listen. A really authentic, heartfelt, conversation, peppered with spicy language of course, but really just good for the soul.

New episode! Rescued s3e7 is out now...

This week on Rescued, we head all the way to Townsville in Far North Queensland to meet a force of nature who is really trying to find stillness and peace: Madonna Davies.

Roz first met Madonna 30 years ago, when one of her bands, Women in Docs, was starting out and playing the infamous Palm Creek Folk Festival. Madonna might not be a songwriter with tunes on Spotify or Bandcamp, but she is a theatre maker, venue manager, project coordinator, lead singer, band manager, festival director, partnerships coordinator, daughter, carer, partner, mother, rescuer and, above all, a connector.

This is a broad-ranging conversation, and there are quite a few moments where we're left going, “OMG. You’re right” - and wondering how to start immediately implement some of Madonna’s wisdom into our own context.

It’s a no-holds-barred conversation — full of f-bombs, heart, humour, honesty and some pretty raw revelations.

Madonna Davies rocks.

Have you caught the latest episode of Rescued yet?

We had such a fantastic connection with enigmatic dark pop vocalist Sarah Stockholm, mama to two energetic fur babies, Nelson and Echo.

It was one of those conversations where you walk away thinking "this person is excellent, we are going to be friends". She has such wisdom, and the generosity to share it, both in person and through her music.

This week on Rescued, meet Sarah Stockholm - Brisbane electro-pop princess by night, senior executive by day.

Sarah's a chronic illness survivor, dog trainer, and a devoted dog mum to two ridiculously clever Border Collies, one of whom who spends his days making life better for people living with mental health challenges.

Sarah is one of those people who seems to have lived three lives already. She's whip-smart, wonderfully funny, and deeply self-aware. And somewhere during this conversation, we accidentally became each other’s public therapy session.

We talk about dogs, supporting them to find their purpose in life, music, illness, ambition, finding your team, and the quiet courage it takes to keep showing up as yourself.

We learn about Anje's journey to centre stage, and the forces that drive her to develop opportunities for other artists. And we begin to appreciate the elegant gravity of a particular era of Brazilian music that spoke to her soul, connected her with the love of her life, and drove her to learn a whole new language and culture.

Of course, as is our way, we also celebrate the life of her beloved fur baby, Lula.

This time we're chatting with the ladysinger herself, the inimitable Anje West - a sultry, evocative vocalist best known for her expertise in Portuguese and Brazilian musical traditions. But she's also a tireless artsworker, community builder, and creative industry leader, supporting countless other artists across an extensive and generous career.

Of course, Anje has accrued considerable wisdom on her journey, and she generously shares some of that with us on this episode.

There's a particular fire that drives creatives like this amazing woman, to create things of beauty and nurture the village that builds opportunities for other creators too. And of course this kindred spirit is a dog mama, and Anje's fur bestie Lula has been an integral part of the journey.
