H5N1 bird flu has been detected in Doncaster East, the first known case in Manningham. It was only in June this year that H5 was first detected on mainland Australia. Since then, it has spread to all six states – and now Manningham. Read the full story:

Five years ago, in the midst of a pandemic, Manningham lost its local paper. It was a gap that was quickly felt — and one we couldn’t ignore.

So Manningham Life began.

Since then, we’ve told the stories of our community — celebrating the people and places that make Manningham what it is, and helping keep it informed and connected. From local heroes and community events to the issues that matter most — it’s all been about making sure our community has a voice.

Five years on, we’re still here. And we’re so grateful.

This week, we’re joining local publishers across Australia for Our News. Your Voice., a national campaign by the LINA - Local & Independent News Association for World Press Freedom Day. It’s a reminder that independent local news isn’t just “nice to have” — it’s essential community infrastructure.

As we await the re-entry of Artemis II, Stella (editor & publisher of Manningham Life) was lucky to see the moon up close recently at Australia’s only dark sky reserve. A trip to Murray Bridge turned into something quite special. She wrote about the experience here:
