Following Councilโs Ordinary Meeting on 27 May 2026, a number of key decisions were made that will help shape services, infrastructure and community facilities across the Shire.
Hereโs a recap of what was discussed and resolved:
โข The Tenterfield CBD and School Precinct Footpath Extension and Accessible Ramp Upgrade Plan (Phase 1) was adopted, with works to be implemented in stages as funding becomes available.
โข A draft Community Engagement Strategy and Community Participation Plan 2026 was adopted for public exhibition, providing opportunities for community feedback.
โข The Disability Inclusion Action Plan was updated to continue through to 2027, supporting Councilโs commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
โข The Acting General Manager appointment was extended through to 29 March 2027, or until a new General Manager is appointed.
โข Development consent was approved for alterations and additions to the Millrace Aged Care Community, supporting improvements to aged care facilities in Tenterfield.
โข Council deferred a decision on the proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Old Racecourse Road, seeking further information on community impacts, safety, traffic, noise, emergency response requirements and other matters.
โข Council approved the relocation of the School of Arts Tenterfield Incorporated office to the Resources Centre Building, with the facility agreement to be updated accordingly.
โข Council adopted the March 2026 Quarterly Budget Review Statement, continuing to monitor financial sustainability, grant funding challenges and future project delivery.
