Local Radio Local Announcers, YOUR Ten FM, Ben "The Scotsman" from Stanthorpe.

My feature song this week is from Victorian Artist Leah Senior from her new album Pt. Roadknight. It’s called Softly Once Again. It has a Fairport Convention feel, which is a pretty good thing in my book. The YouTube link is https://youtu.be/BFMJRO_ihnQ

Join The Scotsman on Ten FM for Brunch to Lunch – your weekly deep dive into the best of new and independent Australian music. From emerging artists to hidden gems, it’s all about supporting the sounds you won’t hear everywhere else.

Interview
On Tuesday, I will be chatting to Mel Alsemgeest, founder of Infectious Behaviour, a speaker and host of The Hair Therapist Podcast. For over 30 years, Mel has worked in the hairdressing industry, including 20 years travelling throughout regional Queensland in education and sales, working closely with small businesses and communities, including many across the Southern Downs region.

Alongside that work, Mel has spent 18 years providing outreach haircuts on the streets of Brisbane City to people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage, and six years supporting a women's prison hairdressing rehabilitation program in two of our women’s prisons, helping inmates gain skills, confidence, and employment opportunities upon release.

We are going to be chatting about her work, the importance of dignity, belonging, and the power of human connection and having met Mel a few weeks ago, I'm sure we will cover a few other things too, as infectious behaviour describes her pretty well :-)

The Scotsman was a bit late doing his birthday walk up Mt Marlay this year as he was sick on the day but he finally got around to it on a beautiful misty Stanthorpe morning. There wasn’t a lot of Stanthorpe in view from the top but still a beautiful morning. He’s looking particularly disreputable - not up to his usual standard 🤪 Roll on #77. I’ll try to be more punctual next year 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
