Oxtail Recordings presents audiovisual zones from near and far, Sunday July 5 at Non Plus Ultra in LA 🌐👾🔊

The final date of Matthew D. Gantt and Mike Nigro’s West Coast USA summer tour with LA-based sonic explorers Jesse Perlstein and Whisper 🌅

Jesse Perlstein is a composer and multi-disciplinary artist based out of Los Angeles. He has spent the last decade and a half creating cross-genre works that often blend the mediums of sound, visual art, prose & interactive room installations, focusing on the confluence between fantasy and reality and exploring their inseparable tangle.

Mike Nigro’s solo practice and collaborations draw inspiration from the minimalists, early synthesizer pioneers, and contemporary experimental underground. His latest work combines field recordings from the Southern hemisphere with rippling arpeggios, cloud-soft chords, and self-schooled sound design with a nod to the 70s kosmische cannon.

Matthew D. Gantt presents a suite of experimental compositions, game engine simulations, and generative audio-visual environments. Drawing from work with Orange Milk and Oxtail Recordings, his performance bridges live electronic music with 3D digital sculptures, imaginary landscapes, and cross-modulation between sound and virtual site.

Whisper is an artist based in Los Angeles, working across poetry, performance, software, and hardware. She dreams of computing that feels like augmented presence, cultivated through generations of loving care.

Out now: Zoltan Fecso and Anna Morley - Desire Path 🌀
Available on 12” vinyl and digital

“Crystalline and refracted, the watery vibraphone meets with pointier pieces of synth; a sci-fi sound; the beeps of a space station control panel. All of it throws a shifting, audible light to the ceilings.”
-

Desire Path by Zoltan Fecso and Anna Morley is available in the world today, the very first vinyl record on Oxtail Recordings.

Mainstays of the Australian experimental and improv communities, Zoltan and Anna have crafted gorgeous synth-and-vibraphone meditations, reflecting on reciprocity with nature, collectivity and the questions one encounters along life’s path. Recorded freely and without overdubs, Desire Path reveals the exploratory energy and vulnerability in their playing.

We’re very stoked for you to hear this special and personal album - sure to be in steady rotation for both early mornings and late nights throughout the year.

“Both acts surge in pursuit of their object; the dream; the water’s edge. They both, like this album, wend their ways towards a longed-for thing.”

Oxtail Recordings is stoked to announce Desire Path by Naarm/Melbourne based duo Zoltan Fecso and Anna Morley, an incredibly lush synthesizer-and-vibraphone album that’s sure to be in your steady rotation for both early mornings and late nights throughout the year.

Built on a friendship that began at a recording session in 2018, the two artists reunited in 2025 to record Desire Path. From a place of focus and stillness, Desire Path charts Fecso and Morley’s distinctive instrumental playing reaching unified heights, a collective exhale of mutual meditations reflecting on reciprocity with nature, collectivity and the questions one encounters along life’s path.

It’s Oxtail’s first vinyl release: available on 140gm black vinyl LP housed in matte jacket with printed inner sleeve, featuring artwork and design by Csenge Csató and photography by Celeste De Clario, limited to 200 copies worldwide.

A. Campbell Payne is a Massachusetts-based musician with a practice rooted in pattern, chance, time, and perception with previous releases on esteemed American labels including Enmossed, Moon Villain, and Moss Archive. Their approach to composition utilizes generative structures, extended polymeter, and idiosyncratic tuning systems built around just intonation. Drawing influence from dance, astronomy, and the history of mathematics, Payne creates sonic environments that are at once approachable and disorienting.

Payne says: “The term “flow control” comes from the glossary of computer terminal protocol. I first came across it while configuring the terminal emulator software I was running on my Apple IIe to control my sequencer. The maximum baud rate of that software ended up limiting the tempo that I could use, to the point where anything above 100 beats per minute or overly-complex started to jitter and break down. This led to me writing the first few pieces of music within that constraint, and the rest of the material followed suit, with simple underlying structures, deliberate pacing, and minimal instrumentation.”

The Oxtail year-end sale is an annual tradition, and we’re doing it again with one small caveat: it’s for email list subscribers only.

All current subscribers have already received their code, and anyone who subscribes before January 8 will receive a code for 50% off all physical, digital, and merch on Bandcamp.

More broadly, this is the beginning of a new effort to shift the center of Oxtail comms away from mediated social media platforms and toward methods of communication like email where (hopefully) there are fewer impediments between us and you.

We won’t be quitting any social media but we’re definitely trying to diversify our channels and shift the focus a bit.

We’ve got an absolutely huge release schedule teed up for 2026 so you can look forward to some exciting updates in your inbox soon, plus some email-exclusive writing, music, and sales throughout the year.
