Public Question Time: noted that during the livestream recording the questions being asked dropped out on several occasions. The responses from officers and the Shire President were however captured without dropping out on livestream. Not sure what the issue is. NB: actual sound in the Chambers didn’t however seem to be an issue - just the live feed recording.

Public Question Time at Shire of Toodyay council meetings is always fascinating. Like Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates you just don't know what you will get.

Tonight's meeting was a case in point.

In good faith (and after acknowledging the re-election of Crs McCormick and McKeown and the election of Crs Mills and VanDerHeyden) the Herald editor asked the below.

"Roz Davidson, the founder of Toodyay Locals Care (TLC) was recently awarded the Badgingarra Roadhouse Local Legend Award at the 7NEWS WA Community Achievement Awards in recognition of her work in supporting the community. Does the Shire President have any comment on Roz and TLC receiving this prestigious award and the contribution volunteering makes to Toodyay in general?"

The response? Well, one might expect a positive response acknowledging an achievement of a local (multiple) Citizen of the Year to receive a further recognition - and in doing so shine the light not just on TLC but all volunteers in Toodyay.

But what did we get from our most senior elected community leader?

"Yes"

So in awkward silence the editor asks, "And your comment?"

From our leader: "in the fullness of time" (or similar words).

Update: To be fair to the SP he did provide an acknowledgment of Roz’s award during his Presiding Members announcements later in the meeting. The editor had left before his announcement.

Signs of the times. Update: the sign is to be removed tomorrow (‘nuff said).
