A man in his 20s was treated for minor injuries to his arm, after a stabbing in a busy regional shopping centre.

Emergency services were called to the incident just outside Big W in Grand Central Shopping Centre in Toowoomba just before 2pm.

There is currently one person in police custody.

Jeremy Adams witnessed the event while working at a donut stand and said there was a "group of youths" running around.

"One of them pulled out of a backpack what looked like a nine inch plus hunting knife and proceeded to chase one of the other youths with that with the intent to stab him," Mr Adams said.

Just one month ago, there was a separate alleged stabbing incident in the same shopping centre involving an 18-year-old man who has been charged and is before the courts.
