The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is Australia's longest running floral event held in the last full week in September each year, The Carnival attracts visitors in the tens of thousands to experience the magnificent floral displays in parks across the city, and the home gardens in the annual Garden Competition. The first weekend of Carnival week features the Carnival of Flowers Parade, and an abund

ance of food, wine, floral displays and entertainment with a variety of activities continuing through the week and the following weekend highlighting fresh produce and horticultural excellence from across the region. Community spirit is the driving force of the Carnival with over five hundred volunteers coordinating a multitude of events to entertain the thousands of visitors.

The annual Brass Monkey Formation Flying Clinic is taking place from Toowoomba City Aerodrome from 4-6 July with up to a dozen aircraft taking part. They are mainly derivations of the Victa Airtourer, Pacific Aerospace CT4's (used by the RAAF as a basic trainer) and a smaller number of Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation CA25 Winjeels (and did I recognise an original Victa Airtourer tagging along). Who can resist running outdoors when you hear them to watch as they go over?
