In light of the devastating events that occurred this week in Victoria, our volunteers observed three minutes of silence to honour and pay our respects to Victoria Police and Christian College Geelong.
Torquay Marine Rescue Service has a strong and valued working relationship with Victoria Police, and we are deeply saddened by these tragic events. As volunteer marine rescue responders, we are no strangers to confronting and difficult incidents, and this tragedy resonates deeply with our team.
Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the families, friends, and communities affected, as well as with the emergency service personnel who responded with courage and professionalism during both incidents.
We stand in solidarity during this time of grief.

A tragic start to the day. Two rescues before 8am.

Stay safe on the water. With good swell and weather, enjoy the conditions but know your limits.

Never swim alone and swim at patrolled beaches.

☀️ We have felt the warmth of the summer sun this past weekend.

☀️ In true Victorian style we will see it part us soon.

☀️ It’s time to start getting prepared for summer on the water.

☀️ Back to basics and if you haven’t already, begin your preparation to be Summer ready.

When accidents happen, there’s rarely time to put a lifejacket on. Your lifejacket will only save your life if you have it on.

Wearing a lifejacket significantly improves the timeframe for survival in the water in most situations.

To make sure you’re wearing your lifejacket properly:
- secure all zippers, snaps, ties and straps on your lifejacket to make sure it fits you snugly
- follow any instructions from the manufacturer
- practice putting on your lifejacket until you are familiar with how it works.

World Drowning Prevention Day 🤍

What is it?
It is a global advocacy event which is observed on the 25th of July every year since 2021.
The World Health Assembly marked this day as the World Drowning Prevention Day to spread the awareness on drowning and devise various counteractions to restrain it.

EMERGENCIES TEND TO NOT GIVE US A WARNING CALL 📞

What’s one of the most effective life saving pieces of equipment that everyone should have on their boat, but don’t necessarily wear all the time?

LIFE JACKETS 🦺closest to an emoji when can find.

🦺 Do you always wear one or just keep them stowed on board?
🦺 Do you know that in an emergency every second can count?
🦺 Have you checked the quality of the ones you may currently have onboard?
🦺 Do they need a service?
🦺 We roll with because we know they are the absolute BEST 💥!!
🦺 Getting into the habit of wearing one before you even begin to start your day on the water is the best advice we can give with Life Jackets.
🦺 Especially to the little eyes that look up to us at times.
🦺 It can be confusing to be on a commercial vessel & not have to wear one while on a tour ect.
Making it clear to the younger eyes that it’s better to have one on than off is never a bad thing to teach.
🦺 One thing you will NEVER regret is already wearing one if something was to ever happen to you & you were in need of yours.
