DIRECTOR - WRITER
Benjamin Southwell

Benjamin Southwell is a director, writer and producer who's written-directed several short films, including the award-winning ‘On Stage”, which featured at the Sydney Film Festival, and written-produced-edited and shot numerous broadcast documentaries, including an episode of NITV’s ‘Elements’ series. Ben's also completed internships on ‘THOR: Ragnarok’ and ‘Aquaman’, a Screen Mentorship Program with Director Ivan Sen, as well as producing-shooting roles on network television shows ‘Bondi Rescue’, ‘Bride and Prejudice’ and ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’. Currently he's writing a sports comedy feature with support from Leah Purcell, Bain Stewert and Screen Queensland, as well as directing a cultural adventure documentary series for NITV.

NAIDOC Week spotlight: Writer and Director, Benjamin Southwell’s first short film, Dead Creek (2010) screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Since then he’s been busy with a range of projects including story producing Bondi Rescue and directing On Stage (a Screen Australia-backed short that played at festivals across Australia). Ben also produced and directed Elements: Lardil Earth, completed an SQ attachment as a producer on AQUAMAN and completed an assistant director’s internship on Thor: Ragnuruk. He is currently being mentored by Director, Ivan Sen (through the SQ Mentorship Program) as he works towards writing and directing his first feature film.
