Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, completed 4,078 days in office, surpassing former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi's record of 4,077 consecutive days as Prime Minister of the country from January 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977. This means, a single and uninterrupted tenure as the Prime Minister of India.

With this milestone, PM Modi becomes the second longest consecutively serving Prime Minister in India's history, behind only the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

As PM Narendra Modi marks 4,078 consecutive days in office on July 25, 2025, he also holds several historic distinctions.

PM Modi is the first and only Prime Minister born after Independence, the longest-serving non-Congress PM, and the longest-serving Prime Minister from a non-Hindi-speaking state.

He is also the first and only non-Congress leader to have completed two full terms and to be re-elected twice with a majority, making him the only non-Congress Prime Minister to secure a majority on his own in the Lok Sabha.

Additionally, he is the first sitting Prime Minister since Indira Gandhi in 1971 to return to power with a full majority.

PM Modi is the only Prime Minister, apart from late Jawaharlal Nehru, to win three consecutive elections as leader of a political party in India.

INDIA HAS secured market access for key job-creating sectors such as textiles, footwear, gems and jewellery, and marine products — where the UK is set to eliminate duties of up to 20 per cent.

Negotiators have also managed to push for eliminating duties for almost 99.7% of tariff lines in India’s food sector. In most food items, the tariffs were as high as 70 per cent. New Delhi extracted enhanced market access in export-oriented sectors such as marine and animal products, including seafood, dairy, and meat products, with tariffs reduced to zero from up to 20 per cent.

On its part, New Delhi has allowed British companies to participate in a class of public procurement tenders, and also opened the highly-tariffed automobile and alcoholic beverage industries.

The UK government said its large and varied manufacturing sectors will benefit from tariff cuts on aerospace (reduced from as high as 11% to 0%), automotives (from up to 110% down to 10%), and electrical machinery (from up to 22%).

India’s victory in the Kargil War was as much against the terrain and the climate, as it was against Pakistani intruders. India is observing the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, July 26, to mark the successful culmination of 'Operation Vijay'.
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army declared victory after a nearly three-month-long battle in the icy heights of Kargil, including super-high-altitude locations, such as Tololing and Tiger Hill.
As the nation observes Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025, we remember the unmatched grit, sacrifice, and valour of the Indian Armed Forces who reclaimed what was rightfully ours - inch by inch, peak by peak- at heights of 18,000 feet.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has directed that public access to 25 OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix, be disabled for streaming obscene, and at times, pornographic content, sources in the government said. The direction to block the websites and apps of these 25 OTT platforms came on July 23, they added.

The action was reportedly taken in consultation with the ministries of home affairs and electronics and information technology, the department of legal affairs, industry bodies FICCI and CII, as well as experts working in the domain of women and child rights.

As part of the directive, content from 26 websites and 14 apps will be blocked under the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT Rules, 2021. These apps were streaming vulgar content from these OTT platforms, sources said.

This is not the first time that platforms like Ullu and ALTT have come under the government’s scanner. In July and August 2024, the National Commission on Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had flagged the obscene content streamed by both platforms. For instance, a web series called House Arrest was taken down by Ullu in May 2025 after intervention by the ministry.

"F*** Off, Indian": Man Brutally Assaulted, Racially Abused In Australia.

An Indian man was allegedly brutally assaulted and racially abused by a group of unidentified men during a car parking dispute in South Australia's Adelaide last week. According to The Australia Today, the incident near Kintore Avenue took place when the man, Charanpreet Singh, was out to see the city's light displays with his wife in their car at around 9.22pm on Saturday. The victim was a student, the report said. Mr Singh said a group of men approached him, hurled racial slurs and launched a vicious physical attack without any provocation. "They just said 'f--- off, Indian', and after that they just started punching," 9News quoted him as saying. "I tried to fight back, but they beat me until I was unconscious," he added.
Mr Singh also said: "Things like this, when they happen, it makes you feel like you should go back. You can change anything in your body, but you can't change the colours."
The assault has sparked outrage among Adelaide's Indian community and raised concerns about the safety of international students and immigrants in Australia. Support for Mr Singh has poured in online, with many calling for stronger action against racially motivated violence.

An Antonov An-24 passenger plane carrying 48 people crashed in Russia's far east on Thursday as it was preparing to land, killing everyone on board in an incident that spotlighted the continued use of old, Soviet-era aircraft.
The burning fuselage of the plane, which was made in 1976, was spotted by a search helicopter after it disappeared from radar screens. It had been attempting to land for a second time after failing to touch down on its first approach, the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Operated by the privately owned Siberian regional airline Angara, it had been en route from the city of Blagoveshchensk near the Chinese border to Tynda, an important railway junction in the Amur region. It was carrying 42 passengers, including five children, and six crew.
The regional governor and federal investigators confirmed that everyone on board had been killed.
Investigators said they had opened a criminal case into the suspected violation of air traffic and air transport rules, resulting in the death of more than two people through negligence. The plane had recently passed a technical safety inspection, Russian news agencies reported, and had been involved in four apparently minor incidents since 2018.
