“One of the more harmful and damaging impacts of the Nordic model, which is a feature rather than a bug, is the level of state sponsored violence, because this is a criminalisation model. The enforcers of the industry are the police. It’s very clear that SW is not seen or respected as work under this framework, because the regulators of INDUSTRY should be bodies like the ACCC and WorkSafe or whatever the equivalents are in other countries, whereas the regulators of CRIME are the police. So you can say it decriminalises the work all you like, but when the state is surveilling, arresting, detaining and deporting SWs, that is literally criminalisation”
