RIP Dolores Keane - was an amazing singer

Irish folk singer Dolores Keane has died at the age of 72.

The Galway singer-songwriter died at her home in Caherlistrane, Co Galway, today.

Ms Keane was one of the founding members of Irish folk music group De Dannan group before she started her solo career.

The traditional folk singer was best known for her 1988 recording of Dougie MacLean’s Caledonia.

Tánaiste Simon Harris paid tribute to the late singer, describing her as “one of Ireland’s greatest”.

In a statement, Mr Harris said: “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of Ireland’s greatest singer-songwriters, Dolores Keane.

“Dolores possessed a voice that could reach deep into your soul. A voice that could carry a sense of joy, but also sorrow in each and every note.

“Her music was synonymous in every kitchen, pub and dance hall the length and breadth of the country.

“Dolores was also so popular, simply for her unrivalled sense of wit and kindness that touched the lives of so many.

“Above all, Dolores Keane summed up everything good about our proud Irish musical tradition.

“I know she will be particularly missed in her home County of Galway, where many a ceilí she performed since a young age.

“My deepest condolences to her family, friends and huge circle of fans. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam,” he added.

☘️ Reminder – St Patrick’s Day Mass This Tuesday ☘️

The annual St Patrick’s Day Mass will take place this Tuesday at 10am at St Joseph’s Church, Salvado Road, Subiaco.

Fr Vincent Glynn will lead this special Mass, which will be followed by morning tea.

All are very welcome. ☘️

Congratulations to the St Patrick's Day Parade and Festival committee, participants, parade goers and participants and sponsors and all involved on yet another brilliant event today in and around Birdwood Square in City of Vincent! Special mention of Irish government minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran and Heather McKeegan from Claddagh Assiciation who won this years Brendan Award. Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!

☘️ St Patrick’s Day Mass – 17 March ☘️

All are warmly invited to attend the annual St Patrick’s Day Mass at St Joseph’s Church on Salvado Road, Subiaco. Mass will commence at 10am and will be followed by morning tea.

Fr Vincent Glynn will lead the congregation in this special celebration as the community comes together to honour St Patrick’s Day.
