Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure to the northeast of Tasmania is producing a northwesterly air stream over the state, with this pattern expected to continue across the weekend. A trough is forecast to brush the west of Tasmania during Monday ahead of a cold front to cross early Tuesday morning, with a deep low expected to move to the south of the state later Tuesday.

A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge over Tasmania. The high passes over the state on Friday evening, moving into the Tasman Sea to the east over the weekend, as an additional high passes to the southwest on Sunday.

Thursday 23 January

Showers about northwest, extending to remaining northern and central districts during the day. Mostly fine elsewhere. Light winds, tending northeasterly in the afternoon in the north and east.

Weather Situation

A high to the west of Tasmania is extending a ridge over southern Tasmania, while a trough lingers about the northeast. This trough will move westwards over central Bass Strait during Thursday morning, before weakening on Friday as a westerly stream develops over Tasmania. A weak cold front will brush southern Tasmania during Saturday, ahead of a high pressure system expected to move over the state on Sunday.

Weather Situation

A high pressure centre lies to the south of Tasmania and extends a ridge over the state. The high moves to the southeast on Saturday and slows down, directing an easterly flow over the state on the weekend. A weak ridge persists over Tasmania on Monday and Tuesday before a weak cold front moves over Wednesday morning from the west.

Weather Situation

A high pressure centre lies over the Bight and extends a ridge over Tasmania. On Friday, the high moves to the south of the Tasmania, then to the southeast on Saturday, directing an easterly flow over the state. The high then moves to the southeast on Sunday and extends a ridge over Tasmania, maintaining settled conditions across the state. The high centre moves away to the east on Monday while another high centre moves over the Bight and extends a ridge towards Tasmania.
