Tiny and fam took me out to Victor Harbor on Monday. The weather was absolutely perfect and as you can see, the views were, too. We hiked a little over 6k. The kids ran, climbed, explored, and got swooped! I saw all sorts of wildlife not native to Ohio, including.... KANGAROOS!!!! (Finally - I was starting to think the folks down under were pulling one over on us).

Victor Harbor is a really special place to Tiny and fam and I could almost hear the echoes of their past as we explored. Said echoes lead to a conversation about that between Tiny and I on the way home - and it felt like it brought us a little closer together.

I am honored to be introduced to such a beautiful and important place by such an amazing group of people. It's special to them and they are special to me, so it's also special to me. I loved it and can't wait to go back.

Last week we celebrated "Bonus Day" instead of "Father's Day" because we wanted everyone to be able to celebrate wherever they were in our relationship without feeling awkward.

I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I get to be with this beautiful, soul who has taught me so much about love and parenting. Not only has she been an amazing partner, but she has allowed me into her family. I have gotten to feel new feelings- ones I never thought I'd have or even knew about. I've gotten a whole host of new experiences. I owe that to her and the amazing family she has raised.

Seriously, these kids are all unique and amazing. Since I've been here, I've lived, laughed, and loved, more than I ever knew possible. I am damn lucky to be able to love such an incredible group of people.

Bonus Day may have been about celebrating me and the relationships I have with the kids, but I couldn't help but feel like we should have been celebrating Beck - the heart and soul of our family, too. Without her and her love none of this would be possible.

I love you, Tiny, thank you for everything you are.

And just like that, Autumn arrived.

This summer has been eventful. There were birthdays, beach days, busy days, walking days, festivals, date nights, Christmas, and more.

My first summer here was a blast. The weather was apparently cooler than usual, which isn't a bad thing and now the t-shirts go away and the cardigans come out.

I'm looking forward to footie, chili, and more time inside with a cuppa!

Happy Easter!

Easter is the first Holiday that Tiny and I got to celebrate together which makes it even more meaningful to me. I can’t believe I’ve gotten to spend a year celebrating holidays, here. Having said that, it’s not the holidays I look forward to most. It’s the boring days.

For instance, this little break gave us a chance to kick back and relax together, which due to our schedules, is a challenge. Give me a cup of coffee, a rainy day, a little Rosehaven (which if you haven’t seen you need to check out), a blanket, and of course Tiny, and I am the happiest guy in the world.

Foot rubs (hers, not mine - don’t worry), laughter, and deep conversation with her. That’s my jam.

Having said that, Tiny and Lulu made carrot cake, turkey rolls, and roasted vegetables (listed in order of importance to me), and I could eat that stuff every single day.

The fancy new automatic filters like to take out the gray hairs, but I promise you, they are there. A new year and new gray hairs.

I'm proud of them, though. I've earned them. Those of you who have been a part of my journey for a while remember what I've been through. Yes, it could have been much worse, but it could have been much better, too.

My story is full of scars, wrinkles, and gray hairs, but it is also full of a love I never could have imagined, strength I never knew I had, and growth I could have only wished for.

If I could go back to that time and talk to that young man, I'd tell him that while it was going to get a hell of a lot worse, it was also going to get a hell of a lot better. I'd also probably told him to drink a little less beer and hit the gym more, but knowing him, he wouldn't listen.

I love my gray hairs. They are something to celebrate, not hide. They are a representation of where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going.

Waking up with back pains after standing up wrong stinks, though. I don't like that.

Here's to a great birthday and a new year filled with new experiences, more growth, and of course more time with the best part of it all - well, you know who...

Valentine’s Day is the last holiday on the checklist to celebrate with Tiny in person. That’s right, we have gotten to celebrate a year’s worth of holidays together - and what a year it has been.

I know Valentine’s Day is hard for a lot of people. You could be a part from your partner (been there), you could be in the divorce process (been there), you could just be single (been there, too). There are a million reasons why Valentine’s Day can suck, but for me, there’s one reason why it doesn't - Tiny.

I literally had to go across the world to find her, but I did and man, I am one lucky you-know-what. I get to wake up every single day - in person with this light that shines brightly in a sometimes very dark world. I know what I have here and I thank God for it (her) every day.

We have grown so much together and I look forward to growing even more. I want to continue to find new ways to love you, celebrate you, and at times brag to anyone who will listen, about you.

You know that I believe that we make our own happiness, but you make that so much easier. You’ve brought me joy, laughter, fun, intimacy, strength, safety, and love. Life isn’t perfect, but to me you are. You are tender, patient, funny, spunky, clever, fierce, free, and more. (You are also astonishingly beautiful - seriously it’s difficult to get stuff done when you are around.)

I couldn’t imagine a better woman if I tried. You are it. You are more than enough. Gosh, I am so lucky to be able to be here with you, for you, and to be able to love you. If you want to know how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with me properly, the answer is easy - just be you.

The picture on the right was taken in 2019 when Tiny came to the states. She thought it would be cool to experience an American Thanksgiving Dinner and so we gave her just that. Since then, she's been celebrating them at home in OZ with her family. The picture on the left is from this year - the first year, since we've been together, that we've gotten to celebrate it together.

Tiny and I put a lot of effort into the day. It makes sense for me to since I've been celebrating Thanksgiving my entire life. However, watching her work her butt off mainly because she knew how important the holiday is to me stopped me in my tracks more than once.

I couldn't be more grateful to and for her. She is an incredible fiancée, partner, mother, and friend. I am truly blessed to be in this relationship with this incredible woman and her amazing family. The food is just an excuse to bring that to the forefront.

I hope all of you had as amazing of a Thanksgiving as I did.
