If you are looking for a chance to play our biggest event yet, you've come to the right place - our Expression of Interest for artists/bands is available now.

As part of planning our lineup, we want to give bands and artists the opportunity to directly submit themselves to us for a chance to play DeadFest. Given we have 3 stages this year, there's a lot of slots to fill! Bands and artists looking for performance opportunities - whether it be your first ever performance, you wanting a slot on the biggest youth festival in South East QLD, or an established artist looking at playing to a new audience - we hope you consider this :)

PLEASE READ ‼️ More insight will be provided over the coming weeks.
As we grow as an event, there are new opportunities that arise and with those opportunities comes new challenges. This year, hosting SkatePUNK at The Link YMCA Victoria Point was a phenomenal success considering the circumstances we were in. Knowing that we are expecting an even bigger crowd next year, as well as planning a bigger production, we are working alongside The Y QLD at their Victoria Point community space to create an even bigger, better, and memorable festival for our audience, bands and sponsors. This takes out the bulk of what made SkatePUNK known for - its roots in the DIY ethos. Although we are a grassroots event still, we are in a proper venue without much of the “skate”, and it’s more than just “punk” music - for a festival called SkatePUNK, it’s sort of misleading isn’t it?

Here’s our pitch to you all - we are considering a rebrand from “SkatePUNK” to “DeadFest”, the flagship DeadTrigger Records event. It’s the same event you all know and love (free entry + food + drink, focus on teenage bands, supporting local creatives), with a new name, fresh branding, and bigger opportunities. We still love the SkatePUNK label, and if we go ahead with this we want to repurpose it to still be used, however this is your festival as much as it is ours, so we want your say.

Below this post will be a poll - keep SkatePUNK, or embrace DeadFest. The choice is yours.

DTR is a youth-oriented, Southeast QLD-based, DIY events promotion company and independent record label; created by youth musicians, for youth musicians. Read through to learn more. Website coming soon.

Established in 2023 by local artist Braxton Hunt-Nissen, we have since developed into a small (but passionate) team of young people with the common goal to make both live music and artist development services more accessible for young people across Australia.

Since our inception, we have put on a number of successful all ages concerts, developed connections with numerous nonprofit organisations and local councils, working with many big name local bands, including the likes of Findaway, The Chimpeltons and The Local Romance.

Amongst these concerts is SkatePUNK, our annual music festival which has seen great success in the local area, bringing in over 500 people with live acts, food, drinks and activities.

Alongside our shows, we have incredible services, such as our 100% free Talent Submission for artists to fill out for a chance to play a future event, regardless of genre, live experience, etc.

DTR - By the youth, for the youth.
