🛑 MAJOR WIN FOR HORNSBY RESIDENTS! 🛑
The Sydney North Planning Panel has unanimously REJECTED the controversial $30 million-plus development application for a 7-storey apartment block at 19–23 Forbes Street, Hornsby.
Locals rallied hard against this overdevelopment, lodging over 80 submissions! The community voiced strong concerns about the sheer bulk, overshadowing, traffic congestion, and the fact that the proposed 69-unit complex sat well outside Hornsby’s designated Transport Oriented Development (TOD) zone.
The Panel formally rejected the developer's request to breach local building height and floor space limits, delivering a huge victory for the community and preserving the local streetscape. 👏
But the fight isn't completely over yet. 🏛️ The matter is now heading to the NSW Land and Environment Court for an on-site hearing in early September.
