✨ Behind the Look: Wardrobe in First Flight ✨

What does a Production Designer do when it comes to wardrobe?
It’s more than just picking clothes.

Our Production Designer, Janet Francis, is the creative force shaping the world of First Flight. Working alongside Laura Williams, who is assisting with wardrobe, the pair are carefully styling every detail to tell the story through fabric, colour, and character.

From sourcing authentic 1960s silhouettes to adding subtle touches that reflect personality and emotion, Janet and Laura ensure each look feels true to the era while serving the narrative. The wardrobe isn’t just background — it’s part of the storytelling.

That's commitment!!

Stephen Walker undergoing a head cast for his upcoming role in our next short film - Rewind.

Trent from The Art of Makeup Society showing us SFX Makeup chops.

Rewind has been written by Dorian, a Crew School student, ready for production in mid September.

I won't tell you what the cast will look like, but I will tell you it's gonna be a work of art :)

Sliding into creativity 🎬✨

We got hands-on with the Dana Dolly in class this week and had a blast testing out some smooth moves.

Great to see the guys using professional tools used on nearly all commercials these days.

Massive thanks to East Coast Camera for the loan — legend for letting us play with pro gear like this.

Working with Leigh Parker Acting Studio has been one of the best parts of building First Flight.

Leigh’s not just acting in the film — he’s also bringing a crew of actors-in-training along for the ride.
It’s a win-win: we get solid talent, and his students get real on-set experience. 🎬

That’s what Pluggas Studio is all about — building a space where collaboration and training happen at the same time.

Proof that when you’ve got great partners, work feels a lot less like work.

Had a blast in the studio this week with & making aging Leigh up for a camera test.

That’s what we love at Pluggas Studio — working with great people and the craft of filmmaking.

🎬 5 Weeks Out — and We Took a Big Gamble

Instead of casting an older actor to play the lead in First Flight, our Production Designer, Janet Francis, had a bold idea:

“What if we age Leigh Parker up 20 years instead?”

So we called in the pros—Jennifer and Trent from The Art of Makeup Society —and they came into the studio to do a full makeup test.

They spent 2 hours working on Leigh to see if we could really sell it on camera…
And honestly? I think it looks incredible.

But is it enough?

OPEN CASTING CALL – PRESENTER FOR CHILDREN’S PUPPET SERIES

We’re looking for a female presenter aged 20–30 to play Sandy, the warm, curious, and playful human host of Nature Knows, a fun, science-based puppet show for primary school kids.

Sandy interacts directly with puppet characters to guide kids through environmental topics like the carbon cycle, wetlands, and biodiversity. She’s the heart of the show, curious, grounded, and always up for a muddy adventure.

KEY TRAITS

Bright, bubbly, and naturally warm on camera
Strong communicator with clear, engaging delivery
Great with kids and comfortable working alongside puppets
No acting experience required — on-camera presenting experience welcome
Ability to improvise lightly while sticking to script tone

Shoot date early September.

This is a paid role.
