Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian in Stratford.

The female pedestrian was struck by a car on Saturday just after 11am on the corner of Briagolong Road and Dawson Street.

The victim died at the scene.

The man who was driving the car stopped at the scene and wasn't hurt in the collision.

Police say the exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and their investigation remains ongoing.

A man has died in a collision at Nyora.

Police say the driver of a Holden sedan was going along South Gippsland Highway at about 5:20am on Tuesday when he collided head-on with a silver Mazda hatchback at the intersection of Nyora-St Helier Road.

The sedan driver died at the scene.

The driver of the hatchback was a Poowong man aged in his 30’s.

He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

A 56 year old Dumbalk North man has now been charged after gunshots were fired at Police who went to his property last Thursday.

Illicit Fi****ms Squad investigators were at the Foster-Mirboo Road home to execute a fi****ms warrant and it's alleged the man who lives there opened fire.

The man was later arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He now faces charges including discharging a firearm at police officers, reckless conduct endangering life and five counts of assaulting emergency workers.

He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on January 20 next year.

A motorcyclist has died in a crash at Cape Paterson.

It's believed the 21 year old rider from Werribee crashed into a road sign on Cape Paterson Road at about 8am on Sunday..

He later died from his injuries in hospital.

Police say anyone who witnessed the crash, has video footage of the rider or other information about the fatality is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

High country killer Greg Lynn has been sentenced to 32 years jail for murdering Pakenham woman Carol Clay.

He must serve at least 24 years behind bars.

A jury found the former Jetstar pilot guilty of murdering Mrs Clay but he was acquitted of murdering Drouin man Russell Hill.

The campers were in the Wonnangatta Valley in 2020 when they were killed following an argument over a drone which captured Lynn deer hunting.

The 58 year old claimed Mrs Clay was accidently shot in the head during a struggle with a shotgun and Mr Hill was accidentally stabbed in the chest with a knife.

Lynn maintained his innocence but admitted to hiding their bodies and burning their remains.

The judge was unable to determine what motivated Mrs Clay’s murder and said he’s not convinced in which order the couple’s deaths occurred.

The prosecution was calling for a life sentence.

Lynn plans to appeal the guilty verdict.

Police have found what appear to be human remains in South Gippsland as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspicious disappearance of Rosebud man Jake Bradford.

The yet to be formally identified remains were found at about 10.30 Tuesday morning in remote bushland at Dollar with a post mortem to be carried out.

The 21-year-old was reported missing by his mother on January 29 last year with investigators believing he was last seen when he became involved in an altercation in the Dollar area on or around January 24.

A 27-year-old Korumburra man was later charged with murder and has been remanded to appear at the Supreme Court in February next year.

Police are confirming a 24 year old Trafalgar man was the victim of Monday's fatal car crash at Warragul South.

Investigators believe a car veered off Bull Swamp Road just before 6:30am and crashed into a tree.

The driver died at the scene.

Police say anyone in the area with dashcam video footage or any other information about the fatality is urged to contact them through Crime Stoppers.

Police have charged a Moe man after a cyclist was knocked down and badly injured at Driffield.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the alleged hit-run just after 5pm on Friday.

Police will allege the 33 year old Moe man hit the cyclist while driving his blue Corolla on the Strzelecki Highway and kept going.

He's been charged by Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives with negligently causing serious injury and has been bailed to appear in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Police are continuing their investigation after two people were killed when a quad bike rolled on a remote East Gippsland property.

A 13 year old girl from Nicholson and a 47 year old man from New South Wales died in the tragic incident off Mckillops Road at Tubbut.

It happened just before 11pm Saturday.

A 12 year old boy from New South Wales was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 47 year old man from Nicholson who was riding on the quad bike was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A student air force pilot is OK after an incident at the East Sale RAAF base involving a PC-21 aircraft.

The base is the headquarters for the aerobatic display team The Roulettes.

A photo of the scene taken by a witness at the base shows emergency responders next to the damaged aircraft.

Gippsland MP Darren Chester says his thoughts are with the pilot, his colleagues and emergency workers who dealt with this stressful situation.

An incident occurred today at East Sale RAAF Base involving a PC-21 aircraft.
I have been advised the pilot is ok and the incident will be fully investigated, which is normal protocol for the Australian Defence Force.
It’s a reminder of the dangers our service personnel face every day as they train for their roles to keep our nation safe.
My thoughts are with the pilot, his colleagues and emergency workers who dealt with this stressful situation.

The mother of a six year old girl who was killed in a buggy rollover at Rosedale says the five-year jail term handed to the driver is a slap in the face.

Olivia Stevens was one of seven children on the buggy going for a joy ride during a playdate in 2021 when it flipped.

None of the children were wearing seatbelts or helmets.

Damien Gibson didn't ask parents for permission.

The 36 year old has been jailed for at least three years after pleading guilty to culpable driving causing Olivia's death.

The Police Gang Crime Squad has laid a number of charges against a Latrobe Valley man who's accused of being armed with a handgun during a confrontation between a group of men at a Melton area convenience store.

The 26 year old man from Traralgon is alleged to have driven to the convenience store in Kurunjang back in July with another man who was armed with a machete.

During the confrontation an attempt was made to attack one man with the machete and run him over.

Police have this week raided three properties in Traralgon, Kurunjang and Melton West where they allegedly found stolen vehicles, ammunition and small amounts of illegal drugs.

The Traralgon man is facing charges including affray, theft of a motor vehicle, possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition, handling stolen goods and failing to appear while on bail.

Police are seeking more witnesses to a crash on Warragul's Smith Street which left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The 77 year old driver's Red Subaru left tyre marks on the footpath as he crashed into a shop front, three other vehicles and a 23 year old woman just after 3:30 on Thursday afternoon.

The Subaru ended up hitting a bench at the corner of William Street.

The pedestrian's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police say their investigation remains ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, dashcam footage or any other information that could assist them is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Police are searching for two carjackers.

The Herald Sun reports they stole a ute from a 27 year old Drouin man in a car park off Warragul's Trumpy Lane, smashed a 19 year old woman's vehicle windscreen nearby and rammed a Police vehicle in Moe's Narracan Drive late on Tuesday night.

The ute they stole was found burnt out in Churchill the following morning.

The two carjackers were wearing dark hoodies and one of them was armed with a machete.

Any information about the thieves can be passed on to investigators through Crime Stoppers.
